Hi Chris,
just found your build log today, don't know how I have missed it, I love this era and you are doing a beautiful job, As for your strange modelers affliction I have that exact same problem! If you find a cure for it let me know, I am afraid to count how many unfinished models I have on my shelf.

I have always loved Calypso as well, a few years ago I bought a set of plans thinking one day I would scratch build one. a quick look on e-bay just now I found a set of plans available for $29
they might be of help in your build, which I am excited to follow and wish you the best of luck with it.

Hi Alfonso, Welcome to MSW
you asked: "I am wondering if it's feasible in a any shape or form to do this?"
I would say yes, it definitely is, you already have the most important thing to do a successful build, your extreme interest.
Now we just have to find the best kit for you to start with. Be sure to start a build log, there is a lot of help available to you here on MSW!

I plan to scratch build most of this project but would be interested in some of the mini kits if they will be available, particularly the stern lantern, carvings and guns.

Hi Nic,
sorry to hear you had to go through that surgery, after I had mine it took me about 2 months to get back to normal so be patient, be sure to walk everyday it helps tremendously in your recovery, don't let yourself sneeze on any account! I sneezed once and it felt like I have been ripped open again.
take care,
john

Wow! Kevin, I was just looking at your SD-14 build, fantastic, can't wait to see what you do with this trawler!
The idea of a cut-a-way model sounds fascinating to me. will be following your progress eagerly. A few years ago I saw a cut-a-way model of the Morgan at the museum in Mystic and fell in love with the idea of it. Am attaching a picture of Mystic's model of the Morgan.

Me too. If we had enough of us within driving distance of each other we could get a club going. I live in the middle of the state east to west, on the southern border, between Gainsville and West Plains. about 2 hours south of Springfield

Welcome to MSW from a fellow Missourian. Rattlesnake is a very nice looking model you should enjoy that. If you do make the trip to Boston to see Constitution be sure to go for more than a couple of days, there are so many great museums to see in New England. I did about a two week trip a few years ago and had a blast. Good luck with your Rattlesnake build!

Patrick,
your idea to use metal tape on the boiler looks perfect, and I like the glue dots for rivet heads, how did you get them so uniform?
my Chaperon is still on backorder but I expect I will be starting mine in a month to six weeks.
