  1. Thank you kindly for your warm words, and for stopping by. OC.
  2. Hi everyone, not much of an update - more just a sad tail, I received a message from my brother, he has been admitted into hospital with abdomen problems, he is having to have some scans and blood tests, and feeling very alone and on his own, we are the last in our family alive. I have had to try to raise some money for traveling as he is some distance away and I have no transport of my own, so I had no choice but to sell my camera gear for what ever I could get for it in a hurry. Stressful times at the moment. OC.
  3. Keep the posts and pics coming kev, i and everyone else loves to see your developments, your work is amazing and very inspiring. OC.
  4. Astonishing - Superb workmanship. OC.
  5. Great progress mate she is really starting to look the part, I remember the forward section on Devonshire, I was not allowed to go asfar forward as the anchor howsers, but I remember seeing the checkerplate, and the captstans to me a young kid looked massive. OC.
  6. Yeah! I have about 100 hammocks, wonder if danny has enough room for us all snoring away waiting for the show. OC.
  7. "Its the rum - all that rum" sends one off to sleep, but I will wake up when the building starts "Promise" OC.
  8. Hi everyone, First of a big thank you for all the likes and comments, it sure does make a difference. Right then just a small update today - my ships wheel eventaully arrived, I had to create a platform for it to sit on - this was fitted and painted black, then the wheel and pedestal were pained then fixed down on the deck. OC.
  9. Thanks mate , I am excluding the chains though to fiddly to fit with what I have. OC.
  10. Gorgeous work pat - very very nice so much detail and so clean and tidy workmanship, I salute you. OC.
  11. Indeed pat, I was concerned about the fitting of the rudder to the hull, as when I did a dry run I scratched some of the white paintwork on the hull, I had to put my "thinking cap on" to work out a tidy way of gluing the hinges , I was quite pleased how it turned out. OC.
  12. Thank you kindly, after those pics were taken I have also worked on and fitted a "stuby" tiller/head arrangement, this was fashioned out of a piece of 3x2mm I drilled through near to one end then ran a box file through the hole to create a square cut out so it would fit over the top of the rudder post, then I shapped a small section with shoulders that shaped into a narrow stem, this was pushed into the narrow opening and glued ontop of the rudder. Pics tomorrow after it has had a bit of black paint, then it will be a case of creating some restriction chains and hooks. OC.
  13. Great progress Lou and I feel your pain about our little hobby, some times it felt to me like I was making One step forward and two steps back, also I am in the same boat (excuse the pun) of having to canabalise on build to construct another. OC.
  14. I have some spare hammocks if anyone is interested - might need some solid beams for all onlookers, who is in charge of the Rum "Must have the Rum" OC.
  15. Hi all, I swollowed hard and found a way to support the rudder while gluing the hinges with ca, I used a thin wood stick to apply a thin coating of ca to the backs of the hinges then pressed them down one at a time, after all six where done I did a little bit of touch up - and here is the current stage minus fitting the tiller. OC.
