  1. Looking great mate, love what you are doing with those stairs, mine are difficult enough just being straight. OC.
  2. More progress today (I dont know whats a matter with me - Two days on the trot) anyway I finnished the first set of stairs (my first attempt ever) , then I cut and fitted the boards to cover the hatch near the capstan. Here's the pics folks - OC.
  3. Thanks mark, with the hatch nearest the capstan I decided to attach to side pieces to hold a few sections of planks, but with the added grating "shhhhh dont tell anyone - I cheated, as I dont have enough ladder making material to make three seperate ladders - so I threw a grating in there instead" OC.
  4. Good day folks, I found a bit of mojo so I decided to attack the boat yard, I decided to work on the hatch that needs covering next to the capstan first, my idea is to put two supports a mil (mm) ot two below the hatch frame, then when these two supports are set I will lay some boards across the supports. While this was setting I decided to do another temporary cover in the shape of a gratting, this will cover the second hatchway from the bow, the idea here is during action the gun deck will need as much free space as possible, so the captain would order as many hatchways to be covered as possible, but to still keep some light and air getting to the lower deck, a gratting was used aswell as boards. So I constructed a gratting and sanded it to fit, then droped this into place in the forward (second from bow) hatchway. I also started work on one of the stair cases (very fiddly delicate work) Here are a few pics folks. Oh also sincere thanks to all who take the time to view my work, comment and hit the like button. OC.
  5. Thanks mate, yep thats what I thought I didn't want any sailors putting insurance claims in against the captain. OC.
  6. Or just use a hairy stick to do the top part if done in thinned layers it wont orange peal or show brush marks. OC.
  7. What a great job you are doing scratching those stairs, I have yet to make a few stair cases for mine, it will happen though (In time) OC.
  8. I understand what you meen - this shot I took also shows the frames and texture of the hull plating. OC.
  9. I recommend these dan, I use them on my Warspite and understand they are authentic colors for Hood aswel. OC.
  10. We are trying Duty @dutythefilm ‏ 1805 England is at war with France and Spain. Napoleon is set to invade England, all that stands in his way is the Royal Navy. copyright Jeremy Webb. @jemweb OC.
  11. I decided today (well the admiral did) to tidy out a cupboard so I could better home my boat bits, very good job was done so it was double rum and biscuits, after doing this it inspired me to work out my next progress with the build. It occured to me that the hatchway with steps (still needed steps) anyway its right next to where the capstan will be located (and as I dont want any accident claims from sailors falling down the hatch whilst doing capstan duties) I have decided to lay a few planks fitted flush with the hatch frame, have to make the ship as safe as possible the crew will have enough to contend with during battle. OC.
  12. If by having a look at my build (as I too am building a 18th century Frigate) it would be an honour and if you cane get any tips from by build - that would be great. OC.
  13. I was going to leave it for one of the mods to welcome you to our unique little family, but I thought I would anyway. OC.
  14. Lovely work and what a great subject. Have you seen this I posted - https://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/18038-new-film-about-nelson-and-trafalgar/ OC.
  15. I think its a facinating subject and possibly one of the most colorful aspects of naval warfare and history, and potentialy could have changed europe in so many ways if nelson and all who where with him, had not won on that day. OC.
  16. Upsssss my bad spelling showing its ugly head again lol. Now correctred. OC.
