  1. Great progress Lou and I feel your pain about our little hobby, some times it felt to me like I was making One step forward and two steps back, also I am in the same boat (excuse the pun) of having to canabalise on build to construct another. OC.
  2. I have some spare hammocks if anyone is interested - might need some solid beams for all onlookers, who is in charge of the Rum "Must have the Rum" OC.
  3. Hi all, I swollowed hard and found a way to support the rudder while gluing the hinges with ca, I used a thin wood stick to apply a thin coating of ca to the backs of the hinges then pressed them down one at a time, after all six where done I did a little bit of touch up - and here is the current stage minus fitting the tiller. OC.
  4. I just see a blank screen like there is nothing there. tried a few times with the same result. OC.
  5. Hiya mate, she is coming along nicely, love the black hull, with your planes are you doing them as RC planes or just large statics? OC.
  6. She is looking very smart and will really compliment your other builds, talking of other builds - have you been following my build lately? its still the same one you commented on some time back, its getting there slowly. OC.
  7. Nothing much to report really apart from a a couple of coats of black and white paint applied to the rudder I made. OC.
  8. They came out of my corel HMS Peregrine kit that for now I am using its small parts for my build, tomorrow I will file the hinges to remove the detailing as its quite rough and crude, I think at this scale they will look better just plain and smooth. The next stage after filling the hinges will be to apply a couple of coats of dull black to them, then a few coats of flat white to the rudder, and black near where I will attach the tiller. Then when dry it will be a case of gluing them to the hull with ca glue (but as tidy as I can, not to get the glue on my white painted lower hull) OC.
  9. Eveniing all, more work on the rudder today -firstly I had to cut out (well flat box file) the three cut outs to house the hinge linkages, this was a system of several dry fittings and more filling, then I concentrated on the metal hinges that needed some light cleaning up, then It was a case of applying a light run of ca glue and placed the hinges into place, this was repeated three times, afterwards any overspill of ca glue was sanded off. Here are a few pics - OC.
  10. I even got the time to build the keel - made up from three pieces of 4 x 4mm, I glued these together then shaped the profiles - next will be to attach the hinges. Just the one pic so far. OC.
  11. More work today continuing with the forecastle bulwark extentions, I sanded the first one to give it a curved profile then a couple of coats of black, pictures show the before and after including the other side prior to shaping. Also a general shot with my first cannon just chilling on the deck before I fix it in place. OC.
  12. I did a bit more work today by first pre drilling the other side ready for the breach rope hooks, then it dawned on me that I wont have enough tiny hooks, I only have about ten and I need 32, they where not included in the kit to do the cannons anyway. Not sure where I can get any from at this scale 1/100. I then decided to add an extention edging piece to the poop deck(kind of fineshes it off better) Lastly I have been working on the forecastle deck bulwark extentions, they had to be cut back and shaped ready to take some rounded end pieces(I did the later by firstly fitting a thick piece of wood that will be sanded down to create a curve) Anyway that how she is at the moment till tomorrow when I get back on the bench(table) OC.
