  3. Hello all, I decided to have a bash at the forward gun port lids, these were made up from thin planking - I joined two lengths together that when joined they were the correct width of the gun ports, when glued I cut them to the correct length. After a little sanding to get a snug fit I placed them and glued them from the inside, after applying some heat to speed up securing I fashioned some hinges from very very thin strips of off cuts, next I applied a few coats of dull black and red ocre edges and inside. I also finished working on an inside frame for the poop deck stairs. Here are a few pictures. OC.

  9. Thanks carl, I had to shape the tops of the bits to allow for the rope tie offs, not easy at 100scale. OC.
  10. Yep on both the forecastle deck and poop deck, the bits continue through the deck down onto the main gun deck, also under the poop deck there should have been the frame and shoe to take the bowsprit, but due to the construction on my kit, this part is boxed in. OC.
  11. Thanks pat, I kind of noticed it after I had fitted it and thought "damn silly thing to do" It dd fall appart whe I moved it, but luckily it just needed re gluimg when the posts were positioned. OC.
  12. Evening everyone, after fitting my forecastle bits I came across an "upss moment" - I had the bits to close to the edge of the forecastle deck, not leaving much room for the ships bell/frame, so I decided to re fit it on the other side of the mast, and instead fitted two single bit frames without the cross piece. I then turned my attention to the rear poop deck - this has a ladder running up from the quarter deck, up through the poop deck, I had to cut this out with my sharp knife then a little sanding, next I constructed a frame for the opening and glued the four pieces in place, it will need filing to make the edges square and smooth. Here are a few pics. OC.
  13. I love your interest in all the victory feeds john, I guess you had some interest in her.

  14. Looking good, you are on the right track, the thing I have discovered with wood kit building - its all about practice and repertition, the more kits and time at the bench - the better you/I and everyone become. OC.
  15. Ok everyone I give in here are some pics - the bits show the glue waiting to dry. Oh foregot to mention - the captains cabin facia was made up form oddments I had, then put together and painted. OC.
