  1. WOW, i have just made myself late for work, catching up, Happy new year to you and your family
  2. Good morning everyone LOL i have king of given myself a Easter 2019 deadline (subject to change) to complete her, so there will be lots of new updates as i progress, rhank you for the feedback the foremast is fully completed with the exception of Stuns, main mast i just have about 5 lines to run, and the Mizzen about 50% complete, but Longbridge shows lots more so i will try to work out if more are needed, repair two bow lines and tighten a few up stun booms Coils to be made ships boats lanterns crests and stern coat of arms replace some tiles general tidy up and stand to be dome and no doubt others things as well
  3. did you always intend to complete the build when you did or was that the prospect of rigging force your hand?
  4. its taken 7 years so far, and so many times i have felt like abandoning her, and at times packing up modelling altogether, i quess it comes down the things i want to achieve and things i am actually able to do, and to me they are to far apart, but here i am still at it, and yes i look at things and want to rip them out but as i get nearer to the end, the things that bothered are long covered over, and lol no one will ever see her anyway
  5. YES Wallace the running rigging came first, seams a long time ago now Aug 2016
  6. Good afternoon everyone i hope to have the foremast completed today, but each time i put a line in the Longbridge book shows another,
  7. lovely work, The funnel, is the superstructure adapted to take the funnel, or is the funnel added to appear like it fits within the superstructure
  8. So glad you found me again even though I wasn't aware I was missing, the fore mast braces are now done and nearly completed the main the mizzen not looked at yet, hopefully by this time next week I will be in a position to put the stun booms in, hope you and family are all well
  9. TY Piet and Jerry, it has been a long journey on this build, but coming to the end now, , happy new year to you and everyone else,
  10. why have i spent all night awake wishing i had kept to my original plans and put on a full set of sails including stuns
  11. yes every time i look at reference books i se yet another line that could be put in, very little rigging on my next build LOL im about to go and watch Master and Commander, and see even more things that have been left off
  12. well i completed the fore mast lower yard truss pendants, and feel i have got away with it, deck blocks also forgotten, but dont appear on the plans anyway rigging them lines into position not the best phot but the yard is quite tight against the mast a large amount of lines have now been secured into position and secured, so looks a lot tidier,
  13. i was gutted when i found out, as i had pinned all the yards to keep them in position, i realised when i was putting the leech lines in and thought, what stops the real spars from moving forward it is doable and i have now completed 2 of the 3 on the fore mast, But i am definitely suffering from not sticking to a plan and forgetting where i was over such a long term build,
  14. So far into the build, just as I am getting very tight for space, and today I realized I have not fitted any truss pendants or parrals to any of the spars, %^%*%%%
  15. believe parts of the server are down, for maintenance
  16. lovely work have a look at Gill middletons build, i love the way he approached his sequence of rigging, the Longbridge book is essential IMHO i have started my build so many times i dont know where i started rigging first, and no where good enough to give advice i would point out that the bowspirit is going to be a real pain for now as it tends to hit everything
  17. coming to the end of my 1/72 build of the Victory, and i was asked a question about it on another site, "how did 18th century sailors know what rigging went where" subject to the masters fine tuning, if two identical ship were built would each line go in the same position and tied off at the same point how were young sailors taught this as i quess very few could read so basically he is asking how would a young sailor know what rope to handle if told to do a specific job
  18. well she has arrived, but for now a few phots and put back into the box for a while a few of thew 1600 cast fittings
  19. a few seconds ago Good evening everyone, im still here trying to get a few hours work on the build if and when i can, lots of new lines have gone in since my last post but still need to be put under a bit of tension and tied off
  20. depending on the final colour, if white or grey, just use the appropriate primer and leave at that
