  3. Good evening everyone i had intended to achieve more by this time (its not a race) but happy as all the yards are in place, the Mizzen ones are finished just awaiting the fittings if rigging bits, the main and fore are in different stages of completion
  4. Thank you Steve, for your detailed answer, i am looking for another build on completion of the Victory, and would like to got for a merchant vessel of some kind, without the need to build a hull, I had been hoping to get a decent scale paddle steamer hull, but very few manufacturers make them, I must admit i like the lines of your currant build, and will continue to watch progress until i make my mind up
  5. managed more progress over the weekend, been to work today but have the Tuesday and Wednesday off, so hoping to get the mizzen yards done, then to get all the fittings added

  15. i must admit im far happier when playing with wooden kits, i dont post as much wjen working with other materials yes they were quite a few off us doing the same kit, dont forget Gil Middletons build, im sure David will see your post as he occasionally drops by, takes a front seat eats all my popcorn and leaves the rubbish on the floor, you can find him and his latest build here https://modelshipworld.com/index.php?/topic/10469-hms-diana-by-shipyard-sid-caldercraft-164-scale/&tab=comments#comment-313971
  16. finished playing with the anchors, its far tro early for them and will just create more snags as i continue withe the rigging Fore mast yards and Stun Yards i love rigging, it takes me into another time (NOT LIKE DR WHO), i think its because it all goes together like a fine tuned engine, its nice to think that line does this and that one gets tied off there because blah blah blah one dowl 8mm thick and two at 3mm gives me what is reqired for the lower yard on the foremast used my lathe as a sanding tool and had a great few hours that completes the basics but to be primed and painted then set up with accessories before being fixed to the build, however i always pin my spars in the relevant position, makes my life so much easier

  18. interesting that even in this day and age that the paint is not bought in bulk and batched, i will be watching your progress
  19. the jigs are fine is thats the way you want to go, but when securing to the deadeyes it could create a problem in getting the tension right, or ratlines that are no longer horizontal, i have found the above way gives a decent result, and the only way i know, The lines on the card, ensure they are straight, and the card also allows the eye to focus on the job, rather than be distracted
