the jigs are fine is thats the way you want to go, but when securing to the deadeyes it could create a problem in getting the tension right, or ratlines that are no longer horizontal, i have found the above way gives a decent result, and the only way i know, The lines on the card, ensure they are straight, and the card also allows the eye to focus on the job, rather than be distracted

we spend months doing something that has to be just right, and then cover it all up LOL, we are our own worst enemies

she is just coming on great, i have to agree the gunport linings would be best painted now David i have just re-read your log again, and various other builds of the same kit, as a result the admiral has told me to look long and hard and my next build. and try to improve my skills rather than skills and the kit, i dont know what is wrong with Caldercraft if anything, but anything other than thier flagships they tend to get a bit of a ear bashing, anyway to cut a long story short, i have been asked to make her the Model shipways Chaperon, and to get the model shipways Confederacy as a christmas gift for my self, and stop making plans for scratch building 8 foot paddle steamers, of course there is always a but, Finish the Victory first

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
