  1. Chuck, PNW (Pacific NorthWest) is a wonderful area to consider. Rich in history as well. And less crowdy than Florida.....
  2. Thierry, I am warmly welcoming you to MSW!
  3. Did my contribution to MSW, now time for NRG as well.
  4. There are multiple tutorial videos out there, personally I have found the AutoDesk F360 to be the best. Books tend to outdate rather quickly, due to software updates. Unfortunately, Lars left Autodesk to pursue another life.
  5. Try this website, yes they are focused on plastic model, but as for tools very handy for us as well. http://umm-usa.com/onlinestore/index.php?cPath=21
  6. Found this monofilament on Amazon available in black. Charlie Moore Signature Premium Monofilament Fishing Line, 10LB x 300YDS
  7. Wouldn't a monofilament be better and stiffer for our purpose. Btw, where did you find the line? I've been searching for 10lb but to no avail. Thank you
  8. It has... the surface will require very little after-work prior painting. But 16 days of effective printing that's a long time. However, I have seen even longer printing time, towards 80 hours.
  9. Printing first hull section of the Swedish destroyer J18 HMS Halland Scale 1:72 Length: 165cm or 5"5" Eight sections needed; each has a printing time of 48 hours.
  10. Steve, you are so right about this overlooked protection. But I think for our hobby that is an "over-kill". I am using a N95 surgical respirator mask here in the USA for protection of particles and dust. For painting with non-acrylic paint I do see a use for such. But that doesn't happen anymore.
  11. @ChrisLBren, Hi and I see you have done your homework. However, if you look at this link you will find a Rikon 1/2Hp for the same price as Jet. I tried out the Rikon 1/2 hp at a Woodcraft store and was impressed by it, even though I didn't buy it.
  12. The transport ship Montevideo Maru from WW II has been found by Australian maritime archeologist. This is the biggest Australian loss of POW and civilians. All together she carried 850 soldiers and 210 civilians. She was sunk by torpedoes from US submarine that had been following her. Montevideo Maru was on her way from Papa New Guinea. She resting at 4000 meters depth. Photo: Silentworld Foundation / AFP This will her resting place.
  13. A delayed birthday gift to the love of my life. Her birthday was in February. This is a non-glue kit from Ugear and it's the second I built. I truly enjoy the snap together. The unit got a coat of Wipe-on-poly.
  14. Phil, I have just read through your five-page posting. And I certainly learned a lot. And I am going to use the idea going from a square to create my mast. The old dowels are not straight anyway. Many thanks for the tips and ideas of yours as I will use them when going back to my 40 year old Constructo 1851 America (which is still not done)🤔.
  15. Chuck, you do deserve to catch with life and health. Your Admiral (Wife/Lady) is a wise one. I do enjoying making my own rope using your tool. This way I can experiment and make more when needed at the moment. Blocks is another story, that is what I will be back for later on.
  16. I have a similar unit putting out 1500 watts. And yes it will melt plastic, char wood if not being careful. Make metal extremely hot to touch afterwards after heating, learned by lesson!
  17. Just an hour and half drive down the I-5 a warm welcome to MSW!
  18. The project was finished some years ago and delivered to a Maritime school in Astoria. I was part of this project.
  19. The replica Gerda af Gevle is currently owned by a Finnish company.
  20. Happy Birthday - Grattis på din speciella dag! Your progress is outstanding and beautiful. What made you to choose birch?
