  1. My bowsprit is all done by hand, lots of sanding and manual carving with knife. Not as beautiful done as yours but I think it will pass for a less picky eye than mine.
  2. Dave, that is beautiful milling. Now I want a milling machine as well. But IRS wants my money first🤔 Cherry is very nice to work with and available at stores like Ace etc.
  3. Zeno, this was my first kit as well, now sitting on a shelf in my old room in Sweden. i built mine in early 80's. Good luck I am intrigued of how you like this model, btw are the pieces laser cut? Welcome to ModelShipWorld!
  4. Ed, this will be extremely useful for me as I am at the very same stage of my mast building. The trestles are two very delicate pieces to build and also the creation of small rings. I didn't like the provided rings so I made my own, they are very tiny.
  5. Toni, that's inspirational job you have done. Beautiful as well, best part - once finished it will be easy to display without taking up a lot of space.
  6. This has happened to me a couple of times using Android phone. Don't know why this happens, I think it may have to do with resolution setting in the camera when uploading directly. Most of the times I download the pictures to my computer to do some editing, and then the picture is correctly shown on my screen.
  7. I am using my scanner/printer to get the details on a separate printout. Yes, the copy is a 100% match. Pinning it down on a corkboard and adding on with kitchen wrap to make notes on. Works for me and the result are more than okay.
  8. Working on the spreaders trestle tree. Squares along with lego becomes handy. Sorry for the sideway picture.
  9. Working on the mast and details, some of the items are extremely small but still have to have detailing added. With my little razor blade saw I was (hehe, just made a palindrome) able to rip a 0.42mm out from a 3x3mm stock.
  10. Second dry fitted mast in place. So far so good. But I never realised the shere height of masts from waterline .
  11. I didn't know we have stipulations how clean a shop can be..... tried to find it in our "by-laws".😆
  12. I have also shaped the masts (bottom parts). Once shaped the will get a coat of pine varnish and clear varnish on top of that.
  13. I have surely not payed enough attention to this girl, but in the background changes and movement forward has occured. One area is the cabin furniture, the skylight gave me some headache about centering. Then I thought about tape, this way I could get the skylight perfect in all locations.
  14. Bienvenue Docker, Warm welcome to ModelShipWorld. You have found one of the largest model ship forums in the world. Here you are not a number, here you have name. We all are looking forward to see what you are bringing us. Do you have any questions? Of course you will; and that is why we are here, to help you and to guide you. And hopefully you have great ideas to share with us.
  15. Ian, that a nice start of the rigging. You are getting close to an end.
  16. Juhu, I have to applaud you, your model and building technique is crisp and clean. Regarding the sails, i.e silkspan is a good option when it comes to furled sails. Experiment with this material; as adding layers can create problems and unrealistic shape, single layer will look better but is harder to put into place as it can or will tear easily. I have found a very thin silk (not silk span) at a fabric store called JoAnns here in the USA, that I will use on my Bluenose and America. But again very nice and sharp build you have done!
  17. Allan, Thanks for the input. So what is the difference between this Mainstay unit and Amacos that is three times more expensive and only goes to 300° https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-4-Slice-Black-Toaster-Oven-with-Dishwasher-Safe-Rack-Pan-3-Piece/110482692 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Amaco-Polymer-Clay-and-Craft-Oven/12347699 Maybe Chuck has a thought to add.
