Tristan, Warm . The choice of the cutter seems to be a great one. Just watch the video from BlueJacket. Enjoy! Some day I hope to build a BlueJacket kit.

Maury, is that font called Bondoni or Bodoni? My office word has the Bodoni compressed font.

Very nice, Maury. Wonder if that font is somewhat consistent with the time era, thinking about Syren?

Aaron, Did you start a build log for us to follow. If not, it's high-time to do so and upload pictures so we can help or at least guide you.

Peter, That was the approach I intended to go, but then it seems like most are adding the cannon port framing before sanding. I haven't sanded mine yet.

, Dooder85 Maybe we can get a real name some day as well. Choose a model that you feel you can be comfortable with, start a build log and post the progress. If stuck (which will happen) we are here to help.

Next step after all the planking is to get the knight and timberheads in. First timberhead installed was a mistake, had to rip it out. Then I thought..... I have the bulkhead tops, so why not use them as a guide. With some scrap planks I had my guide. Cutting the 1/8th square I soon had my timberhead correctly cut and angled, with the planks it was easy to get it properly installed. As this timberhead is the first one installed I figured this is the way to get the remaining stanchions installed with the right angles.

John, A warm Syren seems to be most popular ModelExpo kit so far. Pulling up a chair to tag along this build.

QUICK-FIND INDEXES to BUILD LOGS FOR KITS
Nirvana replied to Dan Vadas's topic in - Index of all kits by brand and subject
Holy moly! What an outstanding job you have done! Am I blind or is the 18th Century Longboat missing in the listing? Edit: My T37 is also finished. -
Mike, You are doing a great job there, the rigging looks good. The idea of using the hearts from Syren made a difference.

I would be in so much trouble getting this magnificent kit. Checking my allowance for this period I am already over my budget so, for now I am sad to let it go. Would be such a good complement to the Longboat. Chuck, that is a beautiful kit.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
