  1. Glad that I have my little saw..... will make it quick and easy I hope, with a jig.
  2. At my last visit in Seattle one of our MSW member cut me a perfect 15/32" x 15/32" stick to be used for the cannon ports. The stick was cut using Byrnes table saw with micrometer. Instead of marking of each bulkhead from a caliper I used the stick to get the correct height between the lintel and sill. The stick turned out to be a good tool as well.
  3. Usd 220 000 isn't bad at all for a sailing boat like her. You need a skipper?
  4. Friday evening update This as my lintels and sills for starboard are in place.
  5. Tor,I am crying seeing the receipt for gas of yours. My last fill up cost me 36 dollars for 13.1 gallons. Now let me try to convert it to Swedish units...... That will be 50 liters and 290 kronor for 87 octane gas.
  6. Heronguy, Thanks for the headsup, That's what Chuck writes in the instructions, sand it all once lintels and sills are in place. Page 11.
  7. As Floyd requested, here is a picture of the latest state.
  8. Floyd, I was thinking the same but reading the instructions it made sense to trim and sand as you go. This will create less stress on the structure while doing it. And no problem of using my log to ask the group.
  9. Thank you Chuck for the clarification in this matter regarding the horse. In other words the version I did with the tiller under the horse would be later 18th century. I also added a signal cannon at the stem, which I found out that some longboats had as well.
  10. Tor, Why not upload picture directly to MSW? Do you need photobucket?
  11. Mr. Pucko Have you contacted the consortium that build Gothenburg? You might be able to buy plans from them.
  12. As for the cannon I do recall to put the picture, on a stick of the deck planking to get the right height of the port. Don't know which page it is located on since I am at work and not having the manual in front of me.
  13. Bill, Thank you for being ahead of me and Floyd, now we can ask you how to proceed with each step along the way!
  14. I mentioned the pre-fairing of the bulkheads, when I applied the batten it fell into place so naturally.
  15. I didn't put any fillers in-between bulkheads prior the planking inside of the hull. Doing this opened up space for the planking and using my fingers. I think having the fillers would had the planking a little harder.
  16. Just my two cents in this matter, when building my long boat I opted to go with the tiller below the horse, right or wrong..... who can tell. For me it was more of an esthetic view, but also made sense. At the time of years when longboats were built I just can imaging the variations that came out....... I don't think any were right or wrong...... Well, just my two cents
  17. My Syren is back on a steady course. With a big Thank You to Marc Mosko at ModelExpo I am back. The replacement part was so straight and accurate it was a very easy job to get the "skeleton" together. Anyone reading this, make sure to taper the stem piece before gluing it into place. See picture two. This is where the figure head will be attached. Tapering after attachment will be much harder. I am now at the stage of doing the planking between bulkhead 16 and 20. The pre-fairing of the bulkheads came out good as well. So far no incidents.
  18. Bill, I thought this were to be a club build, but with your speed some of us have a hard time to keep up! Looking good though and the coppering will hide the errors occurring from the planking. Guess mine will look even worse once getting there.
  19. Popeye, Thank you for the compliment. To me there are still a lot of imperfection of the hull before any primer or paint can be added. Hopefully by the weekend I can do the waterline.
  20. Kevin, I only have rigging left, and this is where all manufacturer fails, giving good instructions of how-to. But someday I will have three ships that will its rigging done.
  21. Bill, well when it comes to Syren I am to start all over again. Continuation will follow regarding Syren. So, very soon I have three models I will be working on.
  22. Nothing exciting but the hull is now planked and "putted" sanding with various grit and she will be ready for painting.
  23. My Admiral confiscated the TV so I weren't able to watch the America's Cup, but instead I got time planking. Should be able to finish the hull this week.
