Sjors,

The way you did your gun ports is how I want to make my lower gun ports. Just like  your LeMirage, mine are exactly two planks high, so If I build a box around each port, I need only to make veritical cuts in each plank with a saw. They should all be very neat like yours.

Good morning to all of you !

@ Lawrence,

Thank you very much.

My ratlines are far away from perfection but I'm happy with it .

Anja was saying last night , when she takes a look…very nice view :D:D

And she is my eye to see if something is wrong…...

@ Popeye,

I have enough space to work around the shrouds, that's not the problem.

Only for the main mast , direction bowsprit, I was happy that I have no shrouds yet.

There are no heart blocks between them.

Just 3 hole blocks with a rope between that is 2 mm…..It look likes a anchor cable !

But there are in place !

Not perfect again but I like it and let it stay this way.

Later today pictures of that.

@ Mark,

At the beginning I was thinking , what is he talking about….90 ????

Then I see Augie's post and there was a light shining…..

Early in the morning…...

Are you gonna make a nice table for me?

Not that small please because Augie is also on his way…..and Popeye is behind it.

@ Rich,

I'm glad that I can help you :D:D:D

If it works for you, just do it !

Here are the promised pictures.

It's not perfect as I'm saying before but I keep it this way.

When I have to choose between this and ratlines, give me the ratlines…...

Next to do is to make a few futtock staves so I can go up with the shrouds and ratlines.

I hope I have the spare parts next week so I can go further on the shrouds and ratlines at the foremast.

are you missing a rope stop under the bow spirit.......it appears to be resting on the railing.  about a half inch up from there should solve your problem......looks very nice.   is there to be gammoning on the spirit as well?

Morning Popeye,

There is a rope stop under the bowsprit.

When I take a look at the drawing it also rest on the railing.

I don't know why…...

But there is more on this ship that I don't know  :P

I try to translate that gammoning on the spirit but it tells me that it is something with a ghost ??????????

I know that Brian,

But I'm seeing the Le Mirage as a learning ship.

It's the first time that I'm rigging a ship from this size.

When I'm at the this stage with the San Ildefonso and later on ( much later ) at the Aggy, I think that I change the ropes for better ones.

But one thing at the time.

I no longer have the photos Sjors, but on page 3 of my Syren log, post #19, you'll see two photos of gammoning on the bowsprit.  One from above and another from the side.  It's those tightly wound ropes that go around the bowsprit then down to the head of the stem and back.

Hi all,

@ Jim,

The organisation of the workshop is my own thing.

At this way I have everything where I need it and I can find it.

At the moment not so clean but when I'm working I let everything fall where it goes…..

@ Mick,

Thanks,

I thought first that it was anchor rope but no, I have to use it for that.

In my opinion they make a mistake and it was the meaning to put a tug boat in front of her so that's a pulling rope  :P

@ Augie,

Thanks, I have to take a look if I've got that.

I think I have that but that's for the last…..

I have also to make shrouds and ratlines on the bowsprit and I have to figure out how that goes…..

Hi Grant,

My company knows that I do a little building.

That's part of the therapy :D:D:D:D

Hope you have a wonderful time in Florence…...

I have make a decision ….

I don't like the mainstay at all !

I'm gonna rip it off  :(

In my opinion the rope is to thick !

So tomorrow I'm gonna change it with a thinner one.

I have talk with my mentor ( Mobbsie ) about it and he agree.

I have also ask Augie how he feels about it and he is saying the same.

Thank you guy's for sharing your  thoughts with me !

And now you see I listen to you !!!!!!!!!

Yep, Sjors, that seems to be the necessity in this hobby. Do it once, see the errors, rip it out, do it again with improvements

Morning Robbyn and Popeye,

@ Robbyn,

You are right.

It's a part of the hobby.

But when I keep it this way, then I don't look to her anymore.

So, more work to be done.

@ Popeye,

Yes Augie explains it to me.

I have two of those but that indeed for later.

I think I will do the bowsprit at last.

Because they also have shrouds and that kind of stuff.

And now I can work around her without touching any rope.

Hi Mick and Aldo,

Mick,

I don't like it myself but I want to have a opinion from someone else before I rip things of that was not necessary.

And is that not why we are on the forum?

To help each other and re- do things?

It's not fun when you have to re-do things but….necessary sometimes.

And at the end you be more happy….. :D  :D  :D  :D

@ Aldo,

Thank you !

I think ( and hope ) that you don't mean that cable or as you called it mainstay…. :P  :P

I have re-do the mainstay and now I can called it mainstay !

I think it's a improvement instead of that cable that it was first.

So please, tell me what you think about it.
