I join the others, Sjors: nice job on your chainplates move! If there were not the holes one could not know they were somewhere else before! I think, as Popeye said, that a few wood dust-glue mix should work well.

When I cut every rope loose from the mast I see an other mistake that I make .

At the book of rigging period ships you have to do 2 shrouds on one side and then 2 on the other side…..and so on.

I did it not, just first all at one side and then to the other side.

Learn something again

That was my mistake….the glue was already dry…...

That's why a little damage!

The first deadeye with the lanyard are in place….

It took be about 1 hour to do it.

But no pressure…..

Because I was told that my lanyards where to long  if have reduce the hight of the lanyard.

I hope that this is the right size.

PS If I may add my 2 cents worth on your changes! It's your model. Do what you like...as much as we try to make it as realistic as possible, it will never be exactly as the original. Of course on a site like this, people will way in, as I am doing now, and offer their opinions, some positive and some can be negative. (I am not saying whoever commented on the chain plate being in the wrong position was a negative comment) just saying you need to assess what is important to you. Can you fix the issue? How long will it take to fix the issue? Do you want to fix the issue? Will you be happy not fixing the issue? I think you are like most of us here. Yeah it sucks to have something pointed out that requires changing. But if you decide to fix the issue, all the effort will likely make you feel happy that you did it. Good luck on whatever you decide, and I'm glad you decided firewood was not the choice. If you had, you would have seen this Canadian over there so fast you'd think it was D-Day all over again. There i would be pleading with you not to do it! LOL

Okay so I was reading page 68 when I posted...I'm glad you decided to fix the issue and like I thought you feel better about it. This hobby is not about perfection...it's about having fun building these little marvels. Oh yeah, and who are we trying to please in the end? I hope your answer was yourself! 

 

Looks great...keep it up! And watch out for sharp tools...at least you have the ER to do you bodily repairs!

It's difficult to say whether it is to long or not because there is nothing to measure it by, all I will say is that it looks fine to me and if your happy with it then go for it.

I think the rule of thumb for the dead eye lanyards is 2 1/2 times the size of the dead eye itself.......I read that somewhere.   looking good Sjors

I think I've read the same thing Popeye has on the 2.5 times spacing. Can't remember where.  Just keep those double holes lined up facing each other!

Fine idea.  It should be mandated, by law, that all deadeyes must be 5mm minimum and the vessel scaled accordingly!!!!!
