Le Mirage by Sjors - FINISHED - Corel - Wood - 1:75

Wise decision Sjors...we don't want to see a "flying Frenchman". I still think you've done some great work on her and the SI and once you've had a little break, hopefully it won't seem so bad.

Wise move Sjors. It comes to us all at some point. The smart ones know when to put it away for a while and come back with a renewed enthusiasm and vigour to the build. Last time I did that, it took six years to re-start. Having a second build to play with is probably a better option! Of course, this could all be just a ruse on your part - an excuse to put off doing the ratlines! :D :D :D

Now, put the scalpel on the table, keep your hands where we can see them, and step away from the ship Sir! I said step away from the ship Sir!!!

Wow,

I wish that everybody always agree with me when I do something…...

But thanks Lady's an Gentleman.

I have now a good feeling about it that I let her for a while on the shelf.

Even now she is looking angry to me when the San Ildefonso is now on the workbench…..

@ Mark,

Is it ok when I do both?

Driving that bus and work on another build?

@ Popeye,

You can always say thing that make me smile  :D

When I read your words correctly I need more builds…….

So Anja, give me that Aggy!…please, please, please?

@ Sherry,

When the time is there I'm gonna go further on the Le Mirage….

Suddenly you see a update on her when the shrouds and lanyards are in place…..

@ Adrieke,

You are right,

Maybe someday comes that klick….and then I know what to do!

Robbyn,

It was the meaning to finished all those shrouds and lanyards before you get home.

A little birthday present, but it will come later.

I'm not the only one who gives you things later  :D

@ Grant,

Thank you for calling me smart!  :D

I didn't know I was…...

And you are so right, I do things to not make those ratlines!  ;)

Sorry for you, but the scalpel is on the workbench but for the San Ildefonso only!

Le Mirage is high on a shelf getting dust.

Thanks Alex,

As you can read the Mirage is on the shelf at the moment.

I think that a small ship is even more difficult then a big one….

Specially when you have those big fingers as I have.

Just give it a go!

Thanks Aldo,

When I don't do that I think I'm gonna mess up things and that's something I don't want.

Working on the ship's boats is a great diversion from the main build while it keeps you in the game.  And no ratlines!!!!!

  • 1 month later...

The shrouds are re-done…...

It's not perfect on the seizing and it need some cutting on the wires but I let it stay this way.

I see the Mirage as a learning build for the rigging of the San Ildefonso.

I can not do the foremast yet because I need some chains and deadeyes because they are broken.

For the San Ildefonso I also need chains for the deadeyes.

The ones that are provide by OcCre are just terrible so I have to order new ones.

But that is for later.

So the San Ildefonso is on the shelf again.

When I go further at her I have to ships at the same time to do the rigging.

Now I can switch a little.

Rigging the Mirage and making the masts for the San Ildefonso.

And of course a few pictures…….

Tomorrow I can start on the ratlines….a few of them !

I realized that I had missed your Mirage, Sjors...

As you had mentioned at Randy's SF2 Log, it seems that you have very few (!) rigging affairs...

Could you let me know what are the color and the material of the shroud ropes? They look shiny and light grey...

Best Regards…

Hi Ferit,

Yes, the rope is grey/beige and a little shiny.

Bit the picture makes it more shiny then it is.

And that you missed the Mirage is no problem.

Things happened when you are building 2 ship at the same time.

I have for the ratlines 3 parts on the main mast and fore mast….2 parts at the mizzen mast and 1 part at the bowsprit...

So, a lot of ratlines…..

Good to see this one back active again - great job on the shrouds!  Unlike others who shall not be named, I refuse to say anything about ratlines!!!
