Hello Phil,

I've been following along on your build and it's coming along very nicely indeed.  Your painting of the grenadier is top notch - the coloring is perfectly subtle and subdued, and the shading is spot on.  I wish you continued success.

I made and installed both of the anchor palm blocks.  They were carved from 1/4” basswood sheets.

At this point, the majority of the hull fittings are done.   I need to clean them up a bit, and then I’ll touch up the paint down the sides.  I still have some boat davits to make, but I will make those when I make the railings, the hammock netting and the boomkins, netting and anchors up by the head.

The head is mostly done (except for what I just mentioned).  The stern is mostly done  (except for the boat davits).

Next up will be the upper gun deck.

Seems silly but I have looked everywhere trying to find a way to add a second page to my log.  Does it just happen after adding a zillion pics or is there a way.

When there are enough comments a second page will appear. You probably want to post these type of site questions here though: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/47-questionsinstructions-on-how-to-use-and-post-to-this-forumsite-problems-or-suggestions/ so they aren’t buried in a build log.

It’s a useful tool.  I found out about them on this forum (I don’t remember who had it).  It’s perfect for anything that has to be fitted to the hull.  I also intend to use it to make the cradles for the ship’s boats.

As soon as I saw your post I ordered one with the idea of making cradles (and for whatever other uses like you’ve found).

I have used coutour tools for tiles.  Makes sense for this application.  I have one of these deep in my tool box.

Thank you, everyone, for all the likes and the comments!

I painted the starboard side.  I’m happy with it.

Time to fit out and arm the upper gun deck and spar deck.

I’m glad you guys liked them.  I made three today over the course of an hour and a half.  Once I sand them all, they should turn out like the last set (I think those turned out well).  Although, at 1:98, they are much smaller than last time.

I made my fourth cannon.  It’s actually the fifth, but I threw one away because I used a dull blade on it and it split out on me, beyond what I can repair.  I put a scale next to them.

I integrated the cascabels into these, unlike last time, where I glued a seed bead onto the back end of the cannons.

Quick note: I am using a scalpel to carve dowel rods.  These are not turned.
