Are you running the Dragon's Back in Wales next month?  Our youngest son and our daughter in law (both 47 years old) are running it this year.  200 miles of agony in my opinion.    I like your idea of a cigar and pints much better.   Give me any good pint and an H. Upmann and the heck with running.   Cars (or even horses and mules) were invented for a reason you know.😀

Allan

not doing the dragons back this year though a couple of friends are.....good luck to your son and daughter in law....

Hi Harlequin

Your Unicorn will join a nice squadron. I believe Bellona is in the background but what ship is in front of her?

And BTW I hope you did enjoy your Havana  at the finish of the race. Here, the market for Cuban cigars is almost dry. Bad harvest and Chinese buying the rest at fantasy prices is the official reason. Prices for Cohibas and TTT increased threefold within the last few months. Fortunately Partagas prices increased only 10% - perhaps because the cigar band is only red and not that nice looking yellow and gold of the others...

Why don't they pirate Cuban cigars for their home market (dried Chinese cabbage and nice copied cigar bands) and leave the genuine article for those who really like it? Sorry!

Cheers

Peter

Greyhound is in front of Bellona.......about the same scale as Bellona.......the cuban tasted wonderful and apart from machine made guantanamara cigars the rest are getting more expensive by the second.....I know the crop was decimated by hurricanes so the price has gone into orbit, but the tax here on tobacco is bonkers.

Obviously you are a highly skilled model maker as you finishing is of the highest standard. It’s just a pity that you have chosen such a poor example of a an eighteen century warship. Would love to see what you could do with one of the kits in the new Vanguard models range👏👏

cheers Alan.....i dont have an issue with the accuracy of any model...it is just a hobby for me.....I have completed several corel kits and I bought this one for £15 ......i try to use what comes with the kit to see what results are produced......I think Unicorn looks great even if you think it is a poor example.....in terms of accuracy that may well be the case, but as a model I think it looks ok and that is why I build....

Amazing you have turned this into a beautiful model. Looking back at your start photo I just realized that is the same kit I bought in the 1980s  at Bliss Marine in the Boston area. If I remeber it was on sale for around $90 US as it had a broken but repairable "keel". I started it but never got far as I got distracted. Not only is your work excellent I have to applaud your tenacity!

Cheers Thistle....this kit has a lot of detractors, but to me it is just a model that needs building...it may not be historically accurate but I dont care....the finished ship looks fine and will join my other corel builds....I am halfway through corels endeavour as we speak...

thanks for the comments people...i have not used any varnish at all on this build and the hull looks fine.....I may try a little matt varnish on her hull just to bring out the wood a little but tbh i dont think it needs it.
