I know you have posted it somewhere before Greg, but could you point me in the proper direction where I could get these stanchions? It would seem that in almost all cases they are the only proper looking design for warship main deck railings.

Tamiya make a 2 rail set (out of steel and the best). Ship Yard Works also have it. Go to Hobbyeasy in HK is the easiest way or EBay.

obviously some upper works were solid metal (French warships appear to have solid railings as well. Given the amount of work and handling needed the deck stanchions needed to be lowered.

rigging 3 bar railings is a killer and you go through some drill bits

This is beginning to look like a very busy ship Greg. I think the foredeck is possibly the most crowded deck I have ever seen on a capital warship of this era, and you are going to add awnings to that as well!

OK I thought all of the higher stanchions around the bow were going to also be for canvas.

I have to teach myself how to make the canvas out of cigarette paper now

Mascotte has regular and King Size ... yes they do. You might want to have a look for King Size if you have to stick together a lot of regular paper to get to make an awning.

A bit of a buff overspray to dull down the shining white tarps, ladders, paravanes, all other dandyfunk has now been added, just rigging of that stuff and touch up painting to go.

Now if I can just find the italian flags that I have lost

Congratulations Greg for another fine addition to your fleet.

The shots looking under those awnings look like it was a much cooler and inviting living space.

A very interesting build and great end result Greg.  That 'digital graveyard' or should it be plastic mothball fleet is an impressive collection.  So when are you opening for tours ;)  - after Covid of course!

cheers
