To whom it may concern.

Feel free to enforce the law! Hopefully there isnt a jail penalty there.

A word of advice if I may. Don't glue your launch or base just yet or you will have a really difficult job getting your rigging to belaying and other points.

Your model is coming along very well.

Dont know if they were black or pure. Do know though how they were shaped from Bellabarba's book.

Most likely black in common with naval practice at the time. I painted mine black which makes a nice contrast with the unpainted masts. I chose not to paint my tops, but that was only because I didn't want to cover the boxwood. Sometimes, aesthetics is more important to me than historical accuracy!

I'm not sure what your question is about the shape of the yards in the AOTS book (unless you meant shaded?). They are octagonal in the central portion and round elsewhere. I took all my mast and spar measurements from the book (including the mizzen topgallant which isn't in the kit) and was happy with the result.

@DelF Thank you very much, very kind of you to answer to my post. Yes it seems black it is. It seems historicaly correct, but as you said the aesthetic has its value as well.

About the shape... yes your answer pleases me,thats what I meant. The center is not round its octagonal and the drws of Bellabarba's book seem to be accurate. About the Mizzen top gallant that you mentioned, I have just realised that is not included by the kit. I dont know why. Do you have any thoghts on that? Never the less I think you did right to rig it anyway.

Happy new year

Hi guys,

Long time no see. My professional time was to demanding, so I have been for a long time away. Still I found from time to time some spare hours to keep the shipyard of RC open.

So here are the results, could have been better, but still I am happy with my self, am not a 1st class ship modelist but I feel (after 7 model ships) I came a long way through (considering where I started  some years ago) and thats a nice feeling

all the best to all of you

Christos

Congratulations Messis on completion of another excellent build. You may not consider yourself a top class model maker, but it would be difficult to criticise this marvelous model ship. I think you've done a top class job. The rigging looks nice and tight, and the images you posted, only confirm the apparent flawless construction. An excellent addition to your ever-growing collection. Well done!
