The Unfinished to Finish

I have had a little time on my hands and instead of starting in on the F-86 I looked at those unfinished kits some 90% complete!Why do we walk away from some and leave them collecting dust?So,I thought what a perfect opportunity to finish these guys off while I a wait the glass for the new cabinet and a 1/32 HK Mosquito Mk IX/XVI coming tomorrow .

First up is a very old kit I p/u at Hobbytown  Mobile for $10 a Revell 1/32 Hurricane this kit is an OOB I did not take a beforehand pic of this one all that was left was paint the canopy(hand),pitot tube,antenna,tail wheel,exhaust,prop and the aerial.I think for an old kit simple build it looks the part.

Next up you guys are familiar with they were all close but lacking now done 1/32 B-25,1/48 F-16(with Capt Javlin Morgan on canopy ) and the 1/72 F-84.

This one will be finished today the Tauro kit 1/48 Mc-205 to which the 1/2 of the kit I discarded esp the copit so much flash and just rubbish.I started this kit some 4/5 years ago for a GB on another site fit issues and such it became a dust collector till now.She may actually be a nice kit when finished.I will have the appropriate finish pic later this afternoon.

That seems  like an ideal rest and recuperation remedy, plenty of construction and painting😁, some 1st class finishing Kevin.

Thks Ed it's a quick way to feel accomplishment ATTM my nose wants to drain eyes feel pressure keep the work lite and easy get ready to fill the new cabinet.I am about as excited a boy on Christmas waiting for my glass to be finished I have one piece of tempered glass that had to be ordered in for the top.

Thks Mike ! I got the Mossie today and Hannah approves.I want to do her in the American  scheme methinks.

 

 The aircraft on display is a British-built B. Mk. 35 manufactured in 1946 (later converted for towing targets) and is similar to the P.R. Mk. XVIs used by the USAAF. It was flown to the museum in February 1985. This Mosquito, serial RS709, has been restored to a Mk. XVI configuration and painted as NS519, a weather reconnaissance aircraft of the 653rd Bombardment Squadron based in England in 1944-1945.

If there is one thing that gets my motor running for early WWII USAAF it's the americanized British machines.... (the spit and mossie look especially good in US markings) {chuckle}

A long time ago, I was in the 307 Tac Fighter Squadron, flying Phantoms. In Homestead, Florida. Now, it's in Aviano AB, Italy, up north of Venice. That unit has a long and colorful history. Nice work, Javlin.👍

I think Ken my son has Italy or Germany on his list he still in Japan with the 35FW he goes to Alaska for TDY like six weeks(?) and then to Guam(deploy?) he liked Guam last time.

Either one would be good. Northern Italy was nice, Germany was fun, too. If he doesn't like it in either, he's spending too much time on base.

Yeah that's why he liked it it was like 30/40's in N Japan and Guam was blue water and upper 70's

On the Spit they are Denis still healing nose looks like raw meat just being patient.It's been slow the last week(two storms in the gulf) painted the canopy,redid the yellow boots and started to lay down some clear for the "Lima Challenger" to go down.

I've seen kit that give the option to do it........never tried it myself.  glad to hear your recovering well.   I've got a procedure coming up as well.......got to adjust plumbing in my legs.  no heavy recovery though.     glad as well to hear you made it through the storms down there!

So I have been clearing out the shop on both sides of projects first of all I have finished the cabinet and it's in the office/hobby room which clears out the wood working side some and I finished a small project for momma.This will open the door back to model building shortly just rearranging everything between the two rooms ATTM "clearing the desk" they say.To finish the spit will be next the mask for the fuse are what's on the plate next canopy is done,made a new aerial an painted the front engine panels.

Thks Guys I am glad it is finished now other works esp. seeing winter fall/winter are fast approaching.The collection from the 8' cabinet moved here to the 4' (5" spacing)mainly 1/48 with some 2 engine planes in 1/72 on the bottom shelf this will open up the big cabinet(7" spacing) for 1/24 and 1/32.I eventually want to build another cabinet just for ships a different spacing.
