Yes Keith, that's really a monster.
But not quite as big as the next giant.

My Yamato in 1:200.

And yes, I get a little claustrophobic when I think about all the 1:200 ships that I still have in the pipeline here. Yamato, Rodney , Mikasa....
But I still found a decent place for the darling.

Thank you for the praise.
When I tackle the Yamato there will of course be a construction report, Yves. But I fear that it will take a while before that happens.
I'm currently pursuing a slightly different model building project that involves a completely different type of ship.
I will then show it in the Non-ship/categorised builds section.
So all that's left for me to do now is to present you the pictures of the finished model and wish you a lot of fun looking at them.
I would like to thank you again for all the nice comments and I am happy that you have accompanied me.

So raise the curtain...

Beautifully done.  Adding the crew on the decks really brings this ship to life.

Hey....Just wanted to say this is by fare the Best 1/200 scale Bismarck I have seen!! The amount of detail is as close to the real ship as have seen!

Like on Turrets A&D you have the hand rails mounted Midway on the turret and turrets B&C you have the hand rails mounted on the bottom and you naild it....and not many ppl notice that kind of detail and you have that kind of detail all over the ship.

I'm in the process of building 1/200 Bismarck myself....I think mine is close and I hade the same type of detail as you in mind as you...but just dont have the time with other hobbies and life....to get to ur level..Like I said yours is the BEST iv'e seen...Monumental Job!!

Here is a few pics of mine.....Mark

Thank you Mark.
I'm very pleased that you think my ship is so good.
The model of your Bismarck doesn't have to hide, it looks fantastic. I hope they let us participate in their further construction.

Thanks for the compliment, Chris.😊

In order to do this, of course I need reliable information about this ship.

I used photos of which there are really more than enough and the book "The Battleship Bismarck (Anatomy of The Ship)" by Stefan Draminski as my source.
Absolutely recommended if you want to build a historically accurate Bismarck.

Additional to that i had very good background information from my model building friends from Germany who are working very intensively on this ship.

Years ago we founded a small and very special forum that mainly deals with the German Navy. But all other navies were also treated.

Graue-Flotte

And it goes on. It's the weekend and I have time...

One segment still goes on the tower in the front structure.
After that it's time to stop, otherwise I could have problems if I want to raise the foremast.

But first check the angle of the camouflage scheme again.📐

30.jpg.2b34f81f853b60d417f5bd229ca46f59.jpg

Everything fits together.

31.jpg.b087e9e565bc343dbfdf677aa8688c10.jpg

And so the tower slowly grows taller.

32.jpg.75e831b9d0961ec8ebf3ae7cbd511567.jpg

Then let's move on to the chimney.
Here I had to proceed differently when painting than with the superstructure. Since it is extremely detailed, I painted the camouflage stripes in front of all the attachments. Otherwise it would not have been possible to mask him properly.

33.jpg.b1c6d927899334ad6bf178a92c39e946.jpg

I then laid a variety of pipes using lead wire.

34.thumb.jpg.cf53e00c6c9b1be46fa791a0be11abb5.jpg

And so the funnel gradually fills up.

36.thumb.jpg.95c4f43d217e6de2b15d1c1e5665a89e.jpg

The pipe also received a small upgrade.

37.thumb.jpg.ce7745f0894c5de3992c312adf509811.jpg

Crane installed.

38.thumb.jpg.e741c802e4cec151c8135ba2d2cf2912.jpg

And the railing.

39.jpg.4bf11a3c9346d15fb7e1af2b3ea6d40f.jpg

Ready to put the crown on the whole thing.

40.jpg.40fd784a01ca1dd381ff58576698600a.jpg

First get rid of the rough plastic tubes.

41.jpg.f93f90a8044d2d7742ee396925d113c4.jpg

And sorted what felt like 1000 brass tubes from Pontos.

43.thumb.jpg.0c3a1b3db31144a336cf841837db4639.jpg

One of the things I particularly like about Pontos is their drilling templates.
No matter whether it's for the tubes or for the crampons on the hull or the superstructure.
It couldn't be more accurate.
That's why I prefer Pontos to KA Models.

42.thumb.jpg.60a5ac6b43b23891cd875a41e38daf99.jpg

Absolutely 100 percent hole spacing. That's the way it has to be.

IMG_20210902_172542206.jpg.f6f2aa5139efec0d36232ce1e9be11b9.jpg

Then the holes are drilled out and the pipes are put into place.

44.thumb.jpg.16875c8b6e94de50d95086dab3b4db08.jpg

Still insert the inner workings.

45.jpg.152df00cf321116aa1ee1af6aa632ca8.jpg

That's why the coronation now follows. Note that unlike the Tirpitz, the Bismarck has an aluminum cap.

46.jpg.0e1360d5f45560efe17df9c81d4559bf.jpg

And take a seat for the sake of rehearsal.

47.jpg.feee086c606fac071aa90ab0a0f768dd.jpg

Absolutely brilliant work, love this to bits.

Greets, Jölle.
