there is a pitch on my garage roof and the build is sat about 1/2 way with about 4 inches to spare when at full height but the lights will be in the way i will have to clear part of the work bench to give myself more height, but means stopping and sorting it out

i need to look into better lighting, the spots give out to much heat and my photo's and to dark/yellow

30kgs when i bought her, she has put on weight since, i will update when i get the chance

i still have a lot of hull work to do, but i wanted to ensure that everything i do from now on lines up with the masts, as when the stun booms are fitted my reach is going to be quite restricted

Good evening everyone,

England, autumn and it wained today, lots of it, not had much at all of the wet stuff ever since the new roof went on, back in august

well spent most of today in the man cave, hoping to achieve much more than actually did

the bow-spit is in and wont be coming back out, pinned in 3 places, 

the gammoning stops has become a real pain, i made them over a year ago, directly from the plans (well that was the first stoooopid mistake), because when i came to fit it all together they didnt line up with the access holes, and as a result  the lines were at a angle, and as the bow-spit was fully fitted i had to do it in situ, 5 times a plum line did not help that much as there is not a clear route to get it to work 

i think i have it sorted now and will retry the rope work in the morning

been going through all the Victory logs now to look for Knightheads and martingale rigging, nothing that i have founfd in the instructions

work continues, as i try to catch up on all the months away from the build, and also try to catch up on all my friends logs

 

the gammoning went in much better today, the knight heads caused me some headache as to whether i needed two or three sets of blocks, i decided to go for the three, i believe they are for the martingales, but all this is new to me and will try to learn the names and update the log as i proceed, the boomkins and walkway are not fixed

Half the time whist reading along in people's logs I get completely lost with all of the different terms and names for parts that get thrown around. Having a picture/illustration pointing out the location of these parts and what they look like helps (most importantly for me at least) how they then relate to other parts and the ship as a whole.

 

Sorry about being a nautical noob, but diagrams like this really help me clear things up in my mind's eye.

One very dusty looking build, lol you dont see the dust in the daylight

Foredeck cannonades completed and rigged, still finish of the loose end and create coils

flag locker, now has some simulated flags in place, but look a bit bright, in fact they look like rolled up card, which is exactly what they are

hammock cranes being put in,

Flag lockers look good to me Kevin - sometimes, just the suggestion of a detail is sufficient to create the illusion. Take a step back and look from a viewer's perspective - it looks great.

Hammock netting

 

good evening everyone

 

this is definitely one of those (i can do better) sessions, lol it took me ages to find a systrm to secure the netting to the hammock cranes, but the photo's make it look pretty - well yuck, one i find a way that works for me - no doubt it will be done in a fraction of the time and hopefully look a lot neater

Hi Kevin

Your build is coming along great I wouldn't worry overly about the dust,I keep dusting mine off with an airline and blow gun,but the  PCB/computer cleaning aerosols from Maplins work just as well if you don't have a blowgun for the compressor.

Regarding the hammock netting,have you thought of using thin brass wire through the cranes and tying the netting to that.Just a suggestion,but I would of thought it would have made things much easier to keep straight and uniform.
