as well as placing the hatchs and starting the planking of the deck.

The deck planking is boxwood.

Hi Rusty,

 

This is a beautiful build!

 

Could you tell me what type of wire you used for the hatch cover ring bolts?  Is it black wire, painted, blackened?

 

Also, what is the inside diameter of the rings?  I've seen documentation for the size of ring bolts used on gun carriages, but never for hatch covers.

Hi Robert and thank you.
 

The wire I used was craft wire. It was copper wire clad with
a black covering. I believe it was around 24 gauge. I measured the shaft I
wrapped the wire around and it was .054” (a little under 1/16”) so the rings
should be pretty close to that. The size of the rings is just what I thought
looked right and not taken from any measurement. Thanks again.

I had to sleep on it to figure out the checkered floor.  I finally 'got it'.  That one photo peering through the quarter gallery and seeing that floor is .......priceless!  I've only actually seen that once on a ship and it was HMS Victory when I walked her decks in '79.

 

Glad my Syren doesn't need that.  I'd be stuck going to Home Depot and trying to find 1:64 vinyl tiles

Here are deck beams with the camber cut into the instead of bending to shape.

Nice cutting of the curves on the deck beams.  In my yard, brute force and superstition would have been used to bend them into submisssion  .

 

I'm not going to ask if the stove works.

 

The great thing about this log is that, after almost 2 years on MSW, I'm beginning to see how things should be done.  That's not to say I could actually DO them.
