A question about Lady Nelson by Amati

This seems like a really nice kit however I would definitely not under estimate the longboat. You can look through the logs here and see how complex that build actually is. -
O yea also need to think about cases. Probably gonna try out Cases For Collectables. They are just down the road from me.

Pretty much done now. Still have to replace the packing twine to rig the anchors and get the baseboard set up.

Been wanting to goto one of these for a while now. This year my job may allow the time.... Here's hoping... -
Glad to see you back!

The only image I could find was from The Colonial Schooner 1763-1775 by Harold Hahn (Naval Institute Press) page 136. Looks like they go right through the rail here.

Plans/instructions want me to put pin rails up on the railing but it seems flimsy/wrong. seems like the lower position would be better. Will have to look at Hahn's model and see if I can tell what he did.

Thanks Dave. I think I have only an hour or two until I can call it complete. My super awesome foam stand has to be replaced with something more suitable. And I need to order up some rope (to rig anchors) as the stuff supplied is total garbage. The kit has overall been great but when I pulled out the rope I found it is pretty much post office packing twine....yuk.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
