  1. I'm thinking the Holly will give you a more "authentic" look and feel to the deck Patrick. It also has a little brighter look.
  2. I really like the compass and square emblem on the cover. A little Mason flair to it.
  3. I can't detect any differences from one side to the other Boyd. You did a great job matching them up. I've never worked with Holly or Boxwood before so I can't really say if the direction of the grain is detectable. But it's easily spotted with your courser grained wood. It'll curve slightly one way or the other. Never seen perfectly straight grained wood before. Cheers
  4. Hi Rich: It might be a good idea to tie all those blocks on the masts and spars before you attach them together. Notice that sling and parrel on the upper yard in the 3rd pic. Hooking those up when you do get ready to attach the yards, might be a good idea. Trying to do it later after some of the rigging is in place will be harder. You'll be fine, just take your time. Cheers
  5. I think if you've got the right size cannon, the bore should be right. From all the great reviews I've read, and knowing that Chuck designed this model, and also turned those cannon, I would think they would be OK. Edit:------Didn't see Brian's post. Math doesn't lie? Cheers
  6. Well actually, I'm not to familiar with these acrylic paints on models, but on a car finish, lacquer can be spotted in, but enamel can't be without being visable to some degree. Like you say, right there up close, you can see it, but in the pics, it looks fine.
  7. Looks like it turned out good Dennis. Glad it worked out!
  8. Other than that blemish Dennis, it turned out perfect. Always hated when that happens. If it's anything like a car finish, you'll at least need to re-do that whole half of the hull, just like a door panel on a car with wide-open area around it. Spotting it in will show up in the repair. Hopefully, you'll be able to match the paint. I know after all that work it's got to be aggravating! Cheers
  9. Your Syren's looking good Richard. Hope you don't mind if I pull up a chair and admire your work. Cheers
  10. Jay: Click on your messages tab, then find the "view all messages" button and click on it. To the right of that page is a bar that says "My Conversations" with a little box in it. Click on that little box and it will highlight all your conversations. Then just below that bar is a white bar that says delete with a button that says Go. Press the go button and another little window will pop up and ask for confirmation. Just confirm and you're done. All messages deleted. Cheers
  11. Well that's a whole lot better than I suspect my first will be. They looked so neat and even, I just had to ask. Cheers
  12. Sails look great Matt! Nice stitching. Did you do the sewing yourself, or did your Admiral render aid? Cheers
  13. LOL! They're pesky little critters sometimes. I've had run-ins with them on job-sites myself. Right after pouring concrete tops on brick porches, we'd trowel them off and move on to the next one, and sure enough, it wouldn't take 2 or 3 minutes, and a couple would climb on the freshly finished porch-top, and run all over it and play in the mud. Solved the problem by getting kids to stand guard and keep them away for an hour or two 'til they hardened enough. Cheers
  14. Hope you and Gwen had a Happy Anniversary Piet! Those sails turned out great and makes her look even more complete. A fitting end to a fun build I suspect. Cheers
  15. Oh Oh! I hope you're wrong about those chipmunks Matt. They're really bad hoo doo! Cheers
  16. Sorry to here about your misfortune Bob. It's a sad truth in this country, about money out-weighing all things right or wrong. Good luck in your re-location. Cheers
  17. You're off to a great start Robert! Looking forward to watching this progress. The Syren's on my list of kits to get. Cheers
