  1. Ouch keith- the billings plans do show you where the winches pumps bollards etc should be. Could you not check Bob's and Nenads logs for help too? Keith
  2. Ty Geoff been worrying about doing the windows for months! Keith
  3. Not done much due to working on victory, but did attatch ladders and railings to turrets after filing the moulded ladders off- this is where the fiddly going boss eyed stuff starts lol Keith
  4. Decided to have a go at the window frames using the self adhesive paper method (franking labels) cut into 0.5mm strips- boy it was fun! Firstnpacking strips were added same thickness as acetate. Acetate was glued in place with humbrol "clear windows" then strips attatched. gonna be fun painting these! also did some work on the bows. The admiral snook this shot of me working alfresco saying is that hms victory between your legs or are you just glad to see me! Keith
  5. lol nenad one admiral is enough!!! Havn't heard of those aircraft kit manufacturers Bob- wonder if they are available in U.K.? Keith
  6. Don't forget though bob what looks really ovious now will not stand out when all the belaying pins, deadeyes, shrouds, rigging lines, toprails etc are in place, and to me that panelling looks mighty fine. keith
  7. Lol Bob and yet we keep starting more- oh and also building Hms dreadnought by zvezda, a 1/76 fairy swordfish biplane, a 1/76 dakota a couple of dragon models half tracks to 1/35 and a few 1/35 tamiya ww2 tanks along with model railway wagons
  8. I must admit i have a few builds going on in various stages- coal fired grab dredger "clearway" sccratch built, caldercraft "sir kay" minesweeper, "u.s.s. lynx" from penart, billings "st. canute" tug, billings "hms victory" and A L "pinta"! so you are not alone Bob lol Keith
  9. I love watching Nenad play devils advocate with cutty builders . She is coming along great Bob. Keith
  10. viewing all this makes we want to start another cutty build and get it better this time- only thing stopping me is i know what i am in for from last time!!!
  11. If i were doing thid kit again i would replace the bulwark planking with thin plywood using a piece of card laid along the hull and marked out as a template. Keith
  12. To be honest this is my first foray into 1/350 upgrades and it is scaring me too! Keith
  13. i have built a few tanks ww2 jeeps and an SAS pink panther but that is as far as car models go! Keith
  14. You will need to reinforce the bulwarks if you remove those Keith- I just left them in which i hated but couldn't think how to get around it at the time (18 years ago now!) you could just joggle new planks in where the cuts are? Keith
  15. This has been on my wish list for a couple of years now! Using master gun barrells and the Eduard upgrade which although designed for the trumpeter version is usable with the zvezda one. Heres progress so far. Basic hull went together very well- note the moulded line for if you wish to model her as waterline version. Deck is painted with Humbrol satin oak thinned down. Care is needed as the deck planking is very finely moulded. Master gun barrells and eduard turret overlays in place- those gun barrells sure look nice- pity they will be painted. Keith
  16. TY geoff- starting to lookk like Victory at last!- cant decide to do the stern galleries next or start on the bows? Keith
  17. stropping deadeyes is fun ya! You were mentioning deck fittings and this is the sergal deck winch i mentioned a while back- the warping drums are billings made though. Sorry its a bit blurred. Keith
  18. Thats the last of the wales in, next job when glue has fully hardened is sand them back a little and open out the gunports- think i have got them right but there is no provision for the wales with the billings kit and they arn't marked on the billings plans. Keith
  19. When you get back to the deckhouses i built up the "framing" using upto two layers of veneer strip- was fun doing the rounded panels down the sides Keith
  20. looks a similar shape to the stern on the airfix bounty- should be plenty of pics of the replica bounty online to do a comparison with though. Keith
