  1. Very nice Sherry! The planking is looking great, nice and even. The garden bounty looks awesome as well. I spent a couple hours picking in mine Monday after being away for a week, don't know how we are going to eat it all lol. First cantaloupes should be ready at the end of the week, I can't wait to try them!
  2. She looks great Popeye, you are right, a bit of paint and no one will notice the filler...heck we wouldn't notice anyway if you didn't point it out !
  3. Thanks Augie. The wedding was beautiful. weather forecast said rain all day...I was depressed, but I awoke to blue skies with nothing in the sky but fluffy white clouds. Links to pics are on my builds
  4. Okay, one more link to the wedding pics for anyone interested https://picasaweb.google.com/lh/sredir?uname=114823187989690517180&target=ALBUM&id=5911089238172907217&authkey=Gv1sRgCOLL68OatafSvQE&feat=email Now, need to get laundry going, and go collect all the goodies from my garden from the past week, then I can get back to building!
  5. Thanks for the welcome home Sjors. Pics are linked on my SF build. Glad to hear it is only a minor ailment and it wont keep you down for long. Your neighbors took two gnomes with them??????? Sorry, I find that just a bit disturbing...to me gnomes are a bit like clowns...a little too creepy for my tastes lol.
  6. I echo what Randy said, ratlines look better, but don't know what is accurate. Remember, your build so do what you like!
  7. Well done Sam, progress may be slow because of life, but what you are getting accomplished is top notch! Be very proud of yourself!
  8. Glad to hear you are feeling better Adriaan...so any idea if and when you will be able to get back to modeling?
  9. Buck will never finish this build...he will just continue to add all these wonderful little details that make it real. Beautiful work as ever Buck!
  10. Great fixes Popeye, and no way should you give up....missing parts are nothing for you, you will just scratch them out and she will be the better for it!
  11. well done Randy!!! Gee, I go away for a week and I find both you and Sjors have conquered the dreaded rat lines I think you both found there was nothing to be of.
  12. Sjors, I am very proud of you...you have tackled the evil rat lines and conquered them!!!
  13. welcome back Augie...just fyi for the next time. Last time I went fishing for trout, everyone around me was fly fishing, or casting/trolling and having absolutely NO luck...I sat on the bank using salmon eggs, and just tossing the line out about 10 feet and reeling in slowly...we could see 15-20 trout following the one one who had swallowed the salmon-egg covered hook right up to about 6 inches from the bank every single time. Caught our limit (3 of us) in less than 30 minutes. Worked every day for 9 days!
  14. Very nice Andy, I think she is turning out to be a real beauty!
  15. Just so people don't think I have been slacking off, in between school stuff I have actually gotten some of the shroud lines up and awaiting rat lines. I fear though, that is as far as I might make it until after Sturgis. I have 6 more days to get everything ready for the fall semester, finish the summer class, and pack and get ready for Sturgis and the wedding. I am sorry Sjors, these pics may have to hold you for a couple weeks!
  16. Eric, way to go, she is looking great!!!! I am about back to this point on my own...still making mistakes lol, but each one is a learning experience right!
  17. Yea Sjors!!! Great pics and a great build. You must be feeling pretty proud of yourself right now! Progress is a good thing!!!!
  18. Very exceptionaly well done Augie!!! I know when I start mine, I will be refering back here often for guidance and inspiration. I look forward to following your Confederacy when you start her. I am sure she will be just as exceptional when complete!
  19. I am looking at that 2nd pic, the closeup...whatever are you complaining about? I can't see any epoxy anywhere, I think it looks down right fantastic!!!
  20. I too hope it is not the builds that caused your issues, but rather something else you came in contact with. It ould be a shame to have to quit
  21. Sam, that metal work all looks great. As for brass for the door, have you considered faux hinges? I could not find brass sheets thin enough so I went to a fabric/crafts store and bought paper that looks like brass....I found it in the scrapbooking section. It seems to work ok...
  22. Nice boat Sjors...and no running away is allowed!!!!
  23. Grant, Mobsie, Ferrit, Sherry, and anyone I missed, Thank you so much for the compliments...good rope makes all the difference in the world. and I am MUCH happier with the looks of things right now! Ferrit, I dipped all my rope in clear varnish and then stretched it, when it was dry I coiled it all up and stored it away until I had the time to use it. Right now there just isn't any weight on the ends of those shroud lines to pull the coil out of it, so they dangle all in a funny looking mess. I am not worried about it, just a slight bit of tension pulls it straight again, so once that lanyards are done, it will all hang nice and straight as it should. Keith, I don't care WHAT is in CA....I just know I always have a nasty reaction to it! Ferrit, I did purchase 3 tubes of the hypo cement you recommended and I have used it several times. Knowing I only had the one day set aside to get all the shroud lines on, I foolishly opted to use the CA because it seems to dry faster than the Hypo....I paid for that choice, but I did get all the lines on like I wanted. I really need to just throw all my CA away...then I would not be tempted to use it anymore. I got very little accomplished yesterday...that stupid CA always make me so fuzzy headed, and all I want to do is sleep.....really had work to do...
