  1. It's been a a few days since an update has been posted on the Monte, so here is a few pics of the work that has been done on her in the last few days. I try to spend at least an hour a day working on her, but most of the time, I spend hours working on her. Now, I haven't decided on the light blue on the lower stem section or paint it brown or black where it blends in. The over all shot is just to give you an idea of just how big this model really is. mike
  2. I got a little more work done on the bow section and put the bits on top of the rails. mike
  3. I don't know if you can tell or not, but the Monte is going to be a bit colorful to say the least. Like I said before, I really like that blue. mike
  4. By the way Ian, I found when it comes to building a model as tedious as the Victory is to try and put in at least an hour a day whether it be on the model itself or researching upcoming steps on the model. I always try and stay at least two or even three steps ahead when building. It saves quite a bit of time having to re-do things that later in the build just didn't make sense or was wrong. mike
  5. absolutely beautiful, that's what I'm talkin about. I actually like the contrasting wood color. I like to use a little contrasting wood even in my planking just a little eye catcher. mike
  6. beautiful work on the spars. But if you think that was tedious, wait until you get started on all those cannon. I was beginning to wonder what happened to you mike
  7. Also, the Vic is one of those models that everyone needs a shovel every now and then. It is a daunting task no doubt especially with all those cannon. To me, the rigging was a breeze compared to all those cannon. At least the one I'm building now, the Montanes is mostly dummy cannon. mike
  8. Your welcome Ian, I can't wait to see some updates, you have done a masterful job on the Vic so far. mike
  9. Also separated the sails, marked them for position and ready to be installed onto the yards when and if I'm ready for them or if I decide to go with sails. mike
  10. Two nice looking chaps. I'm glad to see you were both still very close. I envy that. mike
  11. I did a little more work on the Monte today and started or at least semi attached the transom on the rear to get an idea of how it will look and how to attach it. mike
  12. I'm sorry to hear of your loss as well and hope your heart is mending. One thing I have found when a travesty like this hits my family is to bury myself into my hobby work shop for hours and even days at a time until I come to terms with the event. I tend to day dream when working on my models and drift back in time to parts of my life or people in my life that I like to remember fondly. It might take me an hour to lay one plank or thread one deadeye when I drift off on my travels back in time. But we each have our own way of dealing with grief or that unexpected tragic event. I hope you find yours and work through it. mike
  13. Ahhhhh lucky you. The dispay base you refer to is only a base to use during the construction process. To my knowledge latina has never supplied a finished display base in their kits. I will keep an eye out for your build log on the Ana. Mike
  14. I spent a little time on the Monte over the weekend and got the railings installed as well as the rubbing block for the anchor. mike
  15. hahahahahaha, I lost out, got out bid thank goodness and beyond what I would spend for that particular kit in damaged condition. I can buy that particular kit from Omni Models for around $465-$470.00 shipped. mike
  16. Weeeeelllllllll, I got tempted this afternoon while piddling on the computer, ebay wouldn't you know it and came across the below listing. It tugged at me for a couple of hours before I placed a bid. There is only a couple of model kits that would make me reconsider building another model and this happens to be one of them. Hopefully and probably I won't win the auction. mike http://www.ebay.com/itm/222161435054?_trksid=p2055359.m1431.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  17. Well. The finish of this build was supposed to have started in 2013 So hows the finishing coming.
  18. Mark, there are a few builds on the MSW on the Constructo Victory. It makes into a nice Victory with quite a bit of modifications. I'm really itching to build the Constructo Prince as well. It looks like a fun project for sure, but like I have found with Constructo, accuracy isn't their main concern. So when it comes to Constructo, I build them mainly for the fun of it and the beauty of the naturally finished wood. I was also looking quite strongly at the Artesania Latina Santa Ana, but after really studying the lines of this model, I came to the realization that all Latina did was to use the HMS Victory kit and made a few mods to the Vic kit and came out with the Santa Ana. mike
  19. Hi Mark, I also built the Constructo Bounty as well as their Pandora, Cutty Sark, Mayflower and San Mateo. All were fun kits to build. But not really accurate, but close enough for government work. One thing I would have to say about Constructo, is they supply some of the nicest wood in their kits or at least they used to. Their kits beg to be naturally finished, which is the way I built all of them. Good luck on the Couronne build, it's a nice model. mike
