Hello Lawrence, Thanks for dropping in and your best wishes. Re. my Java build, it's getting close to start a build log in the kit section. I am still hunting for photos and documents I like to add to the log as I put all the parts and pieces together. Each step triggers memories but I have to try and keep it down and stick with the ship. I have been working on her as time allows me to do so, it's a slow process because I have several other things to to then devoting all my time on modeling. Today I went to Hobby Lobby to look for blue water ocean material for the diorama and found something very nice but a bit pricey. It looks like that I may start with a build log after the holidays. Gwen and I extend our best wishes for the holidays to you and your lovely bride Bernadette. Let's all pray for a healthy and peaceful 2018. Cheers,

Ah yes, Jan. Maritiemdigitaal is first on my list and you are right re the search engine. I also found by asking for kruiser java I hit the jackpot. There are a few other sites like the Australian Maritime Museum with a few pics. One of them I will order in a higher pixl count or a glossy photo. That's the one where the Java was taking on fuel and ammo in Tanjung Priok, Batavia. Reason being is that my father was on the ship at that moment. Ah, call it nostalgia. The photo from the Aussie museum showing the Java being bombed, I remember my father talking about that. Funny that when seeing certain photos my memory springs into gear and I can see myself sitting there and listening to my father telling us about his experiences. Cheers,

Yes Jan, I could and thought about it. However, a series of pictures with accompanying dialog would be missing. I didn't like the idea of later backtracking with the start phase of the log, kinda makes it a hotchpotch, if you know what I mean. As a matter of fact the parts I am working on now also have accompanying pics from the real ship, which are also on my failed HD and will also be missing. This is important to me and helpful to whomever is following to see how close this kit is to the real ship. Still no word from the fixit guy. Maybe tomorrow? Keep checking guys Cheers,

Yes Patrick, I have received the Java kit two weeks ago and am diligently working on her. Reason for no build log is that my computer's hard drive failed. It's still in the repair shop but hope to get it back very soon. Apparently the hard drive really failed very badly and the techie had a problem retrieving it. That's what's taking the time. He has 25 years experience with Macks and never seen a HD this bad. I do have an external drive with all that data but only up to husicane Irene when it went bad. All the first pics of the Java build are on the last few days of the failed HD. As soon as I get my computer back I'll start a build log. Right now I am borrowing Gwen's computer to keep up with all the folks on MSW. I am very pleased with the model, all the parts are super good. Cheers,

Harrrumphh, choke - choke, kof, kof. No blushing emoticon Dave but thanks for your confidence in my meager abilities. I probably would use a mold glued to a base so I can bend the rods and make them meet at center with the ends gut and filed to a point. Then silver solder. Perhaps after a few tries it may come out as good as yours. Did I read it right, are going to cover them with canvas? - - - and hide your hard work? Cheers,
