Marsalv, I too am curious what you made the figurehead from. Regardless what it's made of it turned out great. Tom -

This work simply enHANCEs the look of an already beautiful model. Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Tom -
Wonderful job Nils! I hadn't checked in on your build log in quite a while. It's wonderful to see how far your model has come. How much more is left before you're finished? It won't be too long before we are asking you what your next project will be. Tom

Marsalv, as someone who is also working on a post ship I take special delight in following your build. Your Pandora is absolutely gorgeous! I will surely employ some of the building techniques and jigs you use in the construction of my model. Thanks! Tom -
Aha! So that's where the name Stuntflyer comes from. I suspected it might have something to do with model airplanes, but I wasn't sure. It's always nice to get a look at the shops of other model builders. Yours looks first rate as it goes well with the first rate looking model you have going. I have to say I really enjoy your posts Mike. Keep 'em coming. Enjoy the long holiday weekend my friend. I worked on my model this morning, watched college football all afternoon, and this evening I will be out drinking and dancing with friends, celebrating and getting the jump on another birthday when the clock strikes 12:00 AM. Happy Holiday to all my friends here at MSW. We surely do have so much to be thankful for. Enjoy! Tom

Mike. As always your work looks great, especially parts that are painted. Question: Do you use a brush to apply your paints or an airbrush? Tom

What superlative would you like me to use today? I think I've gone through the whole list ..... several times. Really nice is a gross understatement. Albert, you don't list much info on your profile. I realize that is your option, and I respect that, but I think a lot of folks following your incredible build would like to know more about you. Would you consider opening up to the group to tell us your story. Thanks. One very curious model builder, Tom -

Some things in life never change, like the quality of your workmanship on this model. Beautiful, as always! Tom -
Welcome back Glenn. I guess you can tell from all the responses of those following your build log that your weekly post was missed. As always, you do super work. Tom

Glad to have you back Toni. Being away from model building for the summer is easily forgiven. A number of us have had a recess, but I believe things will pick up as we get into the fall. I too like the contrast with the cherry wood for the hatch coamings. Tom

WOW! That is a super job you did on the boomkin and berthing rail with head netting marsalv. As always, your work is first rate. What kind of line did you use to make the netting? Size? Tom -
Hi Mike, The progress may be slow but what you do is quality workmanship. At least you can find a few hours a week to work on Oliver Cromwell. I'm so damn busy I can't even do that. Fall is just around the bend and model building, at least for me, picks up. Hopefully you too will find more time to work on your model. Tom

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
