G'day VinceAs you said it's a challenge, and in this challenge I'm sure that you have gain unexpected knowledge. Every mistake that you have made has made you a better modellear,(this is my own word) and you have worked out a solution to fix it! As I have said before, I'm building an AL HMS ENDEAVOUR with 150 + changes and still counting. I've gain a lot of experience this way rather than following the plans, and again like you, I've woken in the middle of the night with the answer to a problem. I'm sure we are not alone with this aspect. As I have said before, this is what make our models our very own unique creations. Keep up the great work! Greg

Btw. Does your admiral let you do your model INSIDE THE HOUSE? I've been delegated to the garage because of the dust!

G'day Denis Great job! Painting the top of the rails would have made me loopy, when I saw the rails in the pegs, that was when I realised how bloody small they were. Again great job. Greg

What a great idea Steve. There would be much work to do on her to get to "that" stage. Greg

G'day Danny I pressed the LIKE BUTTON, but there should be an UGLY BUTTON to press instead. OMG was the model in the water for years? With all the green slim on the decking it looked like it was! Do you think you can still do it in 6 weeks? Good luck mate. Havagooday anyway Greg

G'day Vince I think most manufacturers of kits are the same, that is why all ships are not the same as another. With my experience with AL HMS Endeavour, I'm have made over 150 alterations so my ship will only be mine. Keep up your great work on "your own Royal William,." Haveagreatone Greg

G'day Steve I'm sorry if "I've put the spanner in your works". I've have been told by the HMB ENDEAVOUR'S shipwright that he had quite a few disagreements with the committee who was in charge of the replica's construction about other things wrong with the ship. Minor stuff like missing crow feet on the masks, missing divats and bumkins. The latter 2 were not put on because of public tripping hazards and the docking problems. Havagooday Greg

Brilliant idea we all should put that in our memory bank. Danny will also like it I think because he used cardboard. Cheers Greg Photo from Danny's HMS VALTURE Swan log

G'day Dave Just found your log and in one word: wow. So fast is your progress with all the detailed ornate fittings. There's a saying in Australia : "You must have a rocket up your bum." Again great job and keep the log coming. Hope your ear is ok now. Havagooday Greg

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
