    That looks very good. The molding looks a little wide but other than that they look fine. Well done.

    You actually solved the problem. You are correct. The angles should all be adjusted so they will match the plan. But remember, those framing pieces for the top and bottom of the windows will need some pretty severe beveling on the outside windows. Trying to use them as spacers without the bevels will really screw up the angles of the stern frames. That is why those window spacers are so important. And they should be made from wood. Use a thin wood sheets so they wont flex when you use them as spacers. with those spacers in position and no sills at all, try tour template again and see how the stern frames look. If you need to adjust them, Then you can donso at that time.

    We just moved it while we were doing all of the work on the kit build logs. Once we finish setting up the new index categories for each MFG with tags it will be obsolete however.     Henry, The best way to do that is to also start a build log for it. Iam sure all of the folks who have built this will follow your progress as you build a Swan Class model. I encourage you to do so... Chuck

    One note of caution, please be aware of and stay clear of Chinese knock-offs. As a new builder, especially one conscious of the cost of these kits can be easily lured i to buying a kit that has been pirated by unethical MFGs. My advice is to stay away from EBAY or Amazon as they are a haven for such kits. In addition, building them here on MSW is prohibited because of the damage it does to the hard working legit mfgs who are our friends and colleagues. In addition, please stay clear of unscrupulous forums that work with these illegal operators to promote the theft of intellectual property and copyrights. The worst offender that tramples on intellectual property rights and promotes this crap is the Ships of Scale forum (SOS). Stay as far away as possible. Here is a topic written all about pirated kits and we created it to educate new folks in the hobby.

    Beautiful !!! Everytime I look at it. I know I said it before. But its worth saying again. This book is a little gem as well. I recommend you add it to your library.

    Its very pliable...so yes that can be done but better to use a hair drier to heat it so you wont risk risk melting it. Works a treat.

    Cant wait to see how far you got along. It stinks having this Covid quarantine which prevents us from all getting together. Hopefully soon we can resume our in person group meetings. I have seen this model and Bill is doing an excellent job on it.

    Really clean and crisp model of the syren. The rudder hole needs to be opened flat against the stern post and widened on the top but kept rounded. It needs to be wide enough to let the rudder swing. chuck

    Funny....it looks great. Just remember to sand each row of shingles down even thinner after they are glued and dry. They should be very thin...before moving to the next row. In addition, measure the width of the entire area to be shingled to see if its consistent. Because the angle of the roof changes the area to be covered will change as well. Try and keep the area to be covered by shingles the same on the aft side and the fore side. And finally....leave just the smallest of space between each shingle. This way after you paint them.....if you are going to paint them I mean, you will have defined shape for the shingles.

    That looks very good. It may have taken a while but your care and craftsmanship shows it was worth the effort!!! You can actually use a very sharp #11 blade to slice most of the stern frames away. You are talking about the inboard sides of the outer most stern frames? That is how I did it. Take little thin slices with each pass. The cedar is soft and it should take too long. When you get close to the finished width....switch to some sanding sticks to give it a nice smooth finish. Just be careful......take breaks. Dont cut yourself or break the center stern frames.....

    That is looking good and as it should be. Its good to see you got everything aligned and secure. Any more progress.

    Yes i think that looks good as well. No need to match perfectly as a little variation actually looks good. The surface quality looks excellent and its not “over-weathered” and blotchy which is what happens sometimes. Your ate perfectly subtle with the right color.
