Building the mast tops
Mast tops
The size ??
In this era you will find all sizes : small, big, high, low.
Looks like 2 armed soldiers or sailors should have enough space in it.And the "supports" under the mast top are usually longer than the bottom diameter of the mast top (white arrows)
The top of the main mast is usually slightly larger than that of the fore mast.First did some testing with paper before buildig the "baseplate"
I first do the main mast until the base plate is ready, and then do the same with the fore mast.
Thanks for following

Should the dark wood between the painted pillars be cut out? For example, look at the row above the green and white triangular markings. I wonder if the seven lighter and narrower vertical and slightly slanted areas are actually pillars or posts that support the red and white striped railing?
Bill
Yes,
There is a build log of the Mamoli GH here somewhere on this forum
The builder also opened these holes later in the build.Great work so far

Would it have been a bed or a hammock and would there have been any other furniture in there?

I never liked to paint figures (and horses).
But when I see your figures and horses, they look great 👍 (I should also try this sometime)
Beautiful work

They did build a couple of updated versions which they used in WWII to shell southern England across the channel several times, they were captured by american forces shortly after D-Day... (that might be what you saw but I can find no record of them ever being put on display)
