First prize 😉 👍
A very nice model Ondras
Thank you Baker for the kind words before the contest. Thanks for the Like.
This time in the competition, the points were enough for the silver medal. When I compare my boat with La Renomee by the Czech modeler Pavel Brablc, I have to agree.👌 Hats off to his extensive hand embellishment and detailing. Well 22 years of work..
I have to say that the visitors liked the ship..😃

I patinated and glued the ornament, the back rail glued..👌
Another fight with the modurit and completing the emblem on the mirror..
I've been studying the Doris threads to work with modurite. It's hard to find, so I'll put a link here for a better search.. https://www.modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=177&t=110763&p=2259964&hilit=modelování+výzdoby+se+věnuji+již#p2259964
I will allow myself a short message that I contacted Doris, she is fine, but she has put the models away for now..

In nearby Wilmington Delaware, there is a full sized reconstruction of the Kalmar Nyckel (trans: Key to Kalmar). I was present for the cermonial laying of the keel, re-enacting the role of a soldier with a matchlock musket (there's a picture of me in that garb somewhere). Below are pictures of her stern decoration, under sail and at dock. At dock, I note that the topsails are furled in period manner with the central part of the sail 'bunched' around the mast.
Thank you Johnny. I prefer to use a replica of an older Duyfken ship as a model.
I really envy your participation in the construction of Kalmar Nyckel🔥💥

Good day,
Dear Ondras,
Such clean and beautiful work! Watching your build with great pleasure!
All the Best!
Kirill
Thank you very much Kirill, thank you for the like..
I have repeatedly studied Doris' threads on working with modurite matter. Yes, it's alchemy, it either flows or it breaks..
I was looking for the perfect shape in a book..
According to Doris, he only fired the basic shape..😴
Then he added the little things that always damaged the foundation. Much better after repeated firing and spraying..
During the fight with modurite, I started making the emblem for the rearview mirror..🤨

I removed the front of the ship - and made it more flat. The model was based on Mantua plans - it was 13 years ago, there were no monographies, no researchs..... Hopefully Doris finished her model and together with two captains let us a lot of informations.
I think now it is more better. I also changed the interior from red ( as you can see on sooner photos ) to wood. Maybe it is suitable - maybe not.
I also bought the book written by John Mc Kay.
To be honest - the most important informations for me are about the decoration, armory and rigging. But the hull- there are a lot of questions.
The end of the stern is absolutely nonsens - anyone who has ever studies the hydrodynamics just a little knows that, the rudder would be ineffective for such a large ship.
Some entries on the board are useles - like companionway... etc.
I´m also a bit confused about the other side of forecastle - were there stairs to the main deck, or not? Nobody knows... Now I have to find the solution.
I could have many more questions " why ", but I will let it be.
Sometimes I think I should to start again - from the beginning, and do it all better... but now there´s no way back💘
Jan
Hello Jano. Glad to see you keep building. I will definitely follow, your models are original..

I started making poop deck railings..
Railing decoration. The carvings will be too small, I wouldn't make them out of wood. Production of modurit firing compound. I opened the mod from the previous President build. It is still usable after 8 years..👌
I again studied the instructions of the Czech modeler Doris Obručová for working with modurit and tried the first option..
Rollers approx. 0.6 mm... Temperature 130 degrees Celsius..
Preview, the result will be red..

That will be a very big hull!!
I used the same build system, just prepared the top of the ribs for precise removal later so I didn't have to use too much violence.. Fingers crossed.👌

Hello. Bending the wood should be tested so that there is not too much or too little heat. I dip and stroke with solder, still wet, otherwise the wood burns. At some point, the wood softens and behaves like rubber. You shape it, or clamp it, and it hardens into shape. I create a paper pattern with the angle of the bend, I shape accordingly. Stronger wood bends better, very weak slats collapse.
Here are my observations.- Bill Morrison and RossR
