  1. Ofcourse you can, but you need water to do that maybe alcohol will work too
  2. Just take care not to heat it to much ... it will burn away, so no torch. Keep in mind it will deform more easily too
  3. But that wouldn't be fair, it wouldn't be a tube as depicted in the "brochure". Besides, RGL wouldn't stand for it!
  4. I know, but how you will shape it and make the tube, isn't laddy
  5. Thanks for your warm welcome mate Roll the PE around a metal rod ... that's the easy (not very creative) part. Getting it glued, without the rod inside, and keeping it round ... now that is a different muddle. You do, however, get the hang of it when I look at the picture. i am more curious as to how you will make the open end for the tube, that is a lot harder
  6. That should be enough if you are a fervent Ikea modeller ... They just would have to cope now, wouldn't they ... When I look at Musashi (old tool) with FlyHawk and Pontos PE sets, that would be about the same, instruction-wise that is. You just start at the beginning and muddle through. A bit like every model you've made ...
  7. Iwould sooner try my hand on tissue,or rice paper as those are thinner. Tissue ... you can even peel layers ... just ideas at the top of me hat
  8. Then the question arises, will she be displayed in a museum or at a navy board ... I presume neither, so you can do what you want
  9. Love the way the rigging is progressing. Not so certain about the flag. Looks a bit ... crumpled. Will you show her with or without sails? If with sails, furled or unfurled? (I know, it's easy to comment from the sideline)
  10. Not surprisingly with earthen-ware druxey. Sorry Pieter couldn't resist it either.
  11. Good to see you back at the workbench Vivian. Congratulations on your marriage. I am very happy for you, you found someone to share your life with, besides us digital chaps.
  12. I think I would pass for seafood on my baguette in the morning So what will you do with the other clog?
  13. Sam ???????? I have the feeling my English knowledge doesn't meet the requirements to understand the meaning behind your words
  14. Zutphen is more for tourist. I prefer Apeldoorn or Deventer. Maybe it's the Westerner in me .... You must miss "hagelslag" .......
  15. At least we know how he spends his money ...
  16. electricity for cars use the same crimping method for sockets and plugs, but it will be slightly if not a lot to big. Used it on the reconstruction of a mini's loom, maybe it would do the job as well. Made some joins for multiple cables out of brass tubing that way
  17. Live in Empe, near Voorst ... Zutphen. I see you swapped living quarters ... lovely region where you are
  18. she does look the part ... very beautiful work on the sails, Mark
  19. Nice build, Pieter. It has a certain panache. Whilst waiting for glue to set or paint to dry, you can do a Dutch clog dance to kill some time #2 if in doubt, use another clamp ... or two
  20. Steve, nobody told you modelbuilding wasn't a walk in the park!? Or are you, like others on this forum, a glutton for self inflicted punishment/mutilation. Oh, about the learning. You will make the same mistake another time, maybe not all, but some. I know I did ... but then I tend to forget things too ...
