  1. So we must have something in common ... you can build lovely models and I cannot P.s. You are right, my origins are not from Gelderland
  2. not to shabby a job for a first time mate. rather nice actualy
  3. Jo, Like Sam has the tendency to mixup the letters in some words, you would barly notice it though, I have the tendency to be somewhat direct. Say it as it is ... In actual fact most of us are whimps is what Sam says, including me Enjoy the rasping and sanding. So far you do not do any worse than most of us have done, or still do ... probably you do better
  4. Whomever said it is a ship of the line, Jan? Nou breekt m'n klomp! One should probably refraini from clogging ...?
  5. Which is all very nice, but how many drops of black, or for that matter, ml I can do a single drop of black and stil have a darkish grey with two drops of pale grey
  6. Wouldn't louvres be more logical, especially on forward ducts? Happy Easter
  7. Odd, even endgrain on balsa is soft, balsa is soft which ever way you cut it, although, cutting cross grain will be slightly harder. Take a rough file and work it down to a sandable "thickness", or a small hand saw to cut it back
  8. That will be the case when the unstable orientation has been achieved, she will still be an Identified Clog maybe Inverted, something like an Identified Turtle Clog
  9. British and Commonwealth Warship Camouflage of WWII (vol 2): Battleships and Aircraft Carriers by Malcom Wright
  10. So that's where I came from, dug up Interesting bits of information
  11. I would apreciate that very much. Lots to learn from you ... as usual
  12. I would sooner say it is an Identified Stranded Clog ... not much floating going on, uncertain about it's floating capacity, and it is certain it is a clog
  13. It seems you have learned some new skills. Your masts look really marvelous. How did you make those 8 shapes in metal?
  14. Can't recall the rubber band fixing method for that period ... Very well done Alan. It does look the part.
  15. Samson ... you see what thou hast done ... no more updates until cap'n steveth hast reached his final number How I wisheth he canst count quickest
  16. Really amazing work, Frank. Took my head for a spin to get it all in.
  17. Or what the Stones would say: "You can't always get what you want" ... At least not always the first time ... You did well Steve, dispite the hardships
  18. maybe use a laundry pin if you do not want to seize up on your clogging when the odor kicks in
  19. Grandson must be on a diet, he has been spoiled by grandma!! I have to warn you, you shall probably do better, as practice makes perfect. So maybe you will make all three multiple times ...
  20. You should make some sculpted pillars, maybe some nice mermaids for the captain ... should be a good foot print to work from upwards ...
  21. One minor addition to Mark's picture method. You may replace the image with a new one if the image in the text box is selected. You can see that when there are small squares visible at the corners. just klick outside of the rectangle shape those tiny squares form, and you can add the next. Your Jack is turning out real good, a proper flag
  22. That last picture, I would have expected either the railing to be longer - all the way up - or the ladder to be taller, so it would meet up with the deck. It looks like it doesn't belong on the spot. Am I wrong in that? I like your stanchion template. Maybe I should try something like that as mine wobble along the side in a drunken line. Fortunately my stanchions are way smaller
  23. Not something to like, American gents, do not try to compare the US system to the British. What works at your side of the pond, often doesn't on this side, same goes for legal actions. OC did you smoke or still do? I had the same problem as you had due to smoking, and had my teeth pulled as it was the only way to get rid of the recidivist abcesses I had. Lost a lot of my jaw's bone structure as well because I postponed it to long. Do not wait to long
