  1. Love the contrasting colour mate. Not so darkish as the rest of the ship. I knew you had it in you ... a streak of joy
  2. Mark, You could swap to the artificial side, Plastic & PE ... reasonable quick build, but quite a challenge ... Or just a simple kit could ease the inner turmoil ... MOst important: Have FUN!!
  3. We'll wait, Mark ... patiently, and I hope you'll get things sorted out and back to calm seas for some smooth sailing
  4. By hand ... you've been doing a lot of handtooling lately ..? We've seen so little ... of you, so you mest have been kept very bussy!
  5. I use plastic specific glue for the kit parts from the spruces, anything else metal like is attached with CA. I like BSI insta-cure+ . No specific treatments whatsoever. I do, however, remove any paint from the surfaces which will be glued, but for the spot where I need to glue a brass piece on if that happens to be after painting. I try to get all brass on before priming, which, as you will have encountered also, is not always evident
  6. I don't think the feelings for the loss between a real or a foster parent will differ, so I know the pain. My sincere condolences Jesse. I wish you and your family lots of strength during this time of grief.
  7. Glad you've got a steady hand, despite the wrecked nerves. Looks very straight. I do hope - when the time comes - to get the same result ...
  8. Thank you for that visualisation, Michael. I'll most certainly give that a try.
  9. It'll come when I see the speed you are building ... 1 destroyer, 1 transport, coming up 1 destroyer ...
  10. At least I know where that septic worktop comes from ... So far I've enjoyed your build tremendously (got the drawings in my "retirement" stash), and your build will be one I will certainly return to for guidance. Take care with the operation, and wish you a speedy recovery
  11. Not amongst survivors ... I've been distracted from your log for far to long. Glad your health has been restored, and you survived the droppings from whatever Aussie predator (carnivor or veggetarian).Hope you get some more building, and a little less talking time ... that is to say for us
  12. You mean the build is an extension of one's self. Interesting, but then it wouldn't necessarilly be a bad conscience, but the ship may not fit the builder As some of the others have written, but in other words: I would like to see the "bad" or "ugly" pieces. Love the way you build develops
  13. Well done Denis. Love the way she turned out ... a little poetry wouldn't come a miss ... she being Brand -new;and you know consequently a little stiff I was careful of her and (having thoroughly oiled the universal joint tested my gas felt of her radiator made sure her springs were O. K.)i went right to it flooded-the-carburetor cranked her up,slipped the clutch (and then somehow got into reverse she kicked what the hell) next minute i was back in neutral tried and again slo-wly;bare,ly nudg. ing(my lev-er Right- oh and her gears being in A 1 shape passed from low through second-in-to-high like greasedlightning) just as we turned the corner of Divinity avenue i touched the accelerator and give her the juice, good (it was the first ride and believe i we was happy to see how nice she acted right up to the last minute coming back down by the Public Gardens i slammed on the internalexpanding & externalcontracting breaks Bothatonce and brought allofher tremB -ling to a:dead. stand- ;Still) by E.E. Cummings
  14. You start to build your own fleet of destroyers ... gettin' like me If you have a dazzle image taken square of the side of the ship, you could enlarge it to the size of your build and transpose it on to the hull. EIther by cutting it out and make a template with mask paper/tape, or draw it onto the hull. I used the former method for the H-class tribal I'm building. I scanned the required image from a book, cut out the different parts and copied them by tracing the shape on Tamiya masking tape the 2" width one. You should take into account, you will be painting from light to darker, as light doesn't cover a dark underground as well as vice versa. I painted the entire hull in the lightest colour, and then moved to a darker shade. I'll photograph the sequences in my next dazzled body build ... should have thought about ithat.
  15. Hmmm, for Valentine you said ... to keep all the other ladies at bay ...?
  16. You are making some incredible fine details at the scale you are working on, Steven. A joy to watch your updates
  17. I use a round file and twist it round to open up holes, when I use the exacto knife method I tend to make the edge look like saw's teeth <scratches head>
  18. What a wealth of information ... just pose the right question, and you are burried underneath the answers
  19. Some sort of magician you are ... or did you use a flute on the rope? (Last picture)
  20. The standing rigging must be a walk in the park considering the complexity of the running rigging. Very well done Messis, a very clean and crisp build
