You give me far more credit than I'm due mate ... but you're not far of the mark ... I use the subtitles for German from time to time as I do not use it very often (once a decade)

That must have been quite painful, Eric. Maybe an x-ray wouldn't be a bad idea, but then you probably know your body best. Hope you recover quickly. You did make me curious about the modelling topics from Chile

Thanks Denis, tried the tinsels on the ship's boats, but somehow it just didn't look right with the camouflage ... to brilliant and shiny to suit the entire ship ... mayby if I painted the hull sparkly green and silver ... addeed some Xmas coloured depthcharges, and some Santa sigars, and red shiny liferafts ...

Bit sloppy drilling mate, all those curly-wurlies ... Ken (Canute) comes first, I'm curious as to how he is proceeding ... it is suddenly very quiet in his neck of the woods ........ I got some more deck furniture to add to my RCN Tribal class, and the railing ... after that ... some touch ups, decals and up to SMS Seyd...... you-know-which. CVan only do some basic work as the detailup has not yet been purchased

Shading, it means you add dark and light sections on it before you overspray with the diluted colour, establishing depth and highlights. Now you have an even colour all over the turrets, whilst if you use shading, you add some artificial depth to them. HAve a look at this build: quite educational

Just curious Mark, as it looks rather good. It will always be a matter of ones prowes and what is best suited I presume

Thanks for the tip ... although, I won't be needing it for these stanchions ... these do not have holes ... they have indents ... so much easier than trying to pass the thread through the needles eye ...

Fortunately I am not a master, for there wouldn't be anything left to learn. airbrush would make it a lot easier, a thinned solution would do it, even with a brush. OC (Old Collingwood) does a lot of hand painting his models, and works in layers. I can't see any reason why you can't. Airbrush, you must take care not to add to much layers as you cover it up again, whilst you only want to make an adjustment brand of your paint and the type play a role, besides the fact that curing is imperative if you work with layers

micro drill adapter for mill
cog replied to michael mott's topic in Modeling tools and Workshop Equipment
I've seen such a configuration before, can't recall if it was on MSW's tool section or the net, very nifty. The brass gives it a real sturdy touch, besides the fact that it looks nice ... you always make such nifty, appealing jigs, and tools Michael -
you are building a kit, you're kit bashing !!!!! now I know why it looks so gooooooood! luxury upstairs, only the necessary downstairs ... reminds me of a Tommy series ...

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
