Lovely job on the brass, Michael. If you find it hard to get leather to take the shape you want it to, try moistening it (with e.g. a spunge and luke warm water), shape it around the form, and let it dry. It is what a lot of saddlers do for amongst others certain parts of a saddle, runners, and some loops

You could have used polystirene for the posts ... Evergreen has got quite a selection of shapes, and sizes. Looking good though. She starts to look less like a tub

Thanks for the likes and comments gents. As always greatly appreciated. Lou, with reference to one of your previous posts concerning crew, thanks, but I'll think I'll stick to model masochism or PPEPP ... plastic, PE, putty, & paint ( I know I forgot glue and CA). Yes the third destroyer ... got another box waiting, but it'll have to wait a bit longer as there is SMS Seydlitz coming up. Greg, interesting choice of ship. I, however, might start on the Arno XI I have gathering dust for over a decade and a half. A change in basic building material. Besides, winter is coming and airbrushing will get hard, wood makes for a nice alternative. Furthermore, I'll need to do some more PE on Musashi, which I've been postponing, in the knowledge I'll be getting headaches

Last modelling for this week I'm afraid ... Everything aft of the funnel is still unglued. FIrst I need to get the rigging of the funnel done. After that add the forward davits and rig them, the rear funnel, and so on ... enjoy the view

Hmmm, breach of copyright ... unless quoted where to find, and the name of the owner .... She does look good, doesn't she .... that's the first build from Greg I followed. I remember the problems with the aireals .... Getting back to the Kriegsmarine, you can actually lookup SMS Konig, of which there is a multitude of images, both real as for models. All of these early German battleships were very much alike, but for the armament, and even that looked alike ...

I do both Osmosis, however currently just a wee bit of plastic. The quantity of saw dust, however, far exceeds the curly wurlies. t was a balmy 11C/51.8F They could, but usually out of necessity (attack in whatever form), as manouvrability, and speed were compromised Bigger ... nah, to easy ... no fun in that. for somewhere along the way of turning into "native???" Americans that typical dry British humour got stripped off/lost ...

Nobody ever is ... I just jumped in meself with the Vendetta build log. It's a lot easier building together

Gents, thanks for the likes Thanks Denise ... saw in one of your logs you had a change of name ...? appreciated. Tomorrow I'll make some time to prime some more parts, so I can fill the empty deck space ... whenever that will be ... work is waiting as well ...

You are so wrong about that mate ... I pick on whom ever I want to. However, you are just such a lovely victim ... you really play the part ... Osmosis, why don't you join in the build fun ...? Get yerself a kit, and the after market stuff and dive right in ...

that's very bad luck my friend. it is also the reason buying through the internet will always be a risk. for me it's the reason to buy through paypal.

i would put them inline with the outer propellor shafts, but having seen this from the sms koning - same class - I have to revise my view. It looks like the rudders are in between the longitudinal axis of the props, and some way aft of them. have a look here

He just finished a card tank in less than no time, Greg ... I too wonder what's next, but then after his current build ...
-
How many rudders, 2 .. 3 I would expect the rudders' positions would be in line with axle/shaft of the respective propellors, or the number of rudders is less than the number of props ... P.s. I tend to forget picies too, but then I edit the post so it doesn't show

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
