  1. Thank you all for the likes and comments (I must be getting old, start to repeat meself ) Lou, the wire on the H-stack is copper, the wire from a CAT5 network cable, on the funnels is EZ-line (the thinnest they've got). The funnels are in reality wire, whilst the stacks are supported by bars. The bent thingies aft of the rear most funnel are as far as I know pumps or something like pipes to connect hoses to. Can't find it in any of the (tribal) destroyer books I've got The other bent thingy at the edge of the deck is my poor replacement for the crane I messed up Greg, you are quite right, I'm past the point of noreturn Denis, When I compare my camouflage with yours, Dan's, or Greg's, than this one is pretty straight forward. Besides ... I hand painted the deck furnishings and superstructures, which makes alignment a lot easier
  2. You've got sharp eyes Denis Thanks for the likes & comments, as always, much appreciated Had the oportunity to work on the model, can't say I retreated into the mancave as I sit at my desk, which has become a mixture between desk and work bench ... maybe I can CA my customer's problems ... Finished rigging the funnels, need to rig one more set of davits, fitted the rear superstructure, and added the vents - those "H" shaped ones - I need to find some anchor chain for this scale and type of ship, as the ones from the kit are horrendous. Right ... picsies:
  3. that's the bird, Kortes. It's funny, I'm reading a book from the Bolitho series where he is promoted to commander of a sloop called sparrow ...
  4. Kortes, Your boeier turns out really marvelous. I like the very crisp detail you have added to her so far, the planking, the caulking of the deck, doors, etc. It is becoming a truely wonderful representation of the type of yacht. By the way Sperwer means sparrowhawk
  5. lovely work, I like the stepped join of the sides and the front of the box
  6. Running Greg Lester has taken offffffff .......................... Roadrunner back in town :)
  7. Steve, With regards to your CA application to the stanchions. If you go back on your decision and heat sink the stanchions, you run the risk burning the CA off, not just the paint. Hence our reference to silver soldering earlier in your log. Try at which size drill you can still press the stanchion in, or if you use a drill size where it slides in easily, use thick CA it will act as a filler
  8. I see you have a slightly hidden image of yourself on the wall ... nice close ups by the way
  9. Dan, You might take into account scale colouring, i.e. giving your colours a lighter tone by adding very light grey, or white to it. At 1/350 it is approximately 25%. At the scale we work on colours aren't as bright as on 1:1, that might have thrown you off
  10. Thank you all for the likes gentlemen didn't I, OC ...? ... darn ... must have posted the wrong pictures ...
  11. I should think he must improve on his expressionism
  12. My Greek is non-existent, so I'll giv you German: Vielleicht wartet der schwierige Arbeit auf Sie, Messis. Manche Dinge gehen schnell ... andere scheinen sich langsam zu bewegen
  13. maybe the hard part is waiting for you Messis. Some things just go fast ...
  14. I got lucky Yesterday evening ... I did what OC needs a hand with ... started rigging, in my case the funnel. Starbord side has been done as wel as rigging the davits on that side. Took me long enough ... two hours for four threads, hardly visible with the naked eye ... Tried some angles so you could see at least something ...
  15. There are a few blokes in the UK you could visit. Maybe they will take your hand and show you the ropes
