  1. You could use liquid mask to protect the deck from dripping or smudging ... better try if you do, it may take off the paint from the deck ...
  2. Ah well, can't win 'em all but you only need one good hit to finish the fight ...
  3. The black is verrrrry black. You might try to make it very dark grey ... it will look more in proportion ... although, I do tend to forget it on my own models ... love the shading Butts
  4. Nice subject for a build, Jan. Rather fitting ... hope you don't mind I tag along Quite, what about the woodenb builds ...?
  5. Thank you, Jim, and welcome to a slow moving build, this is the second one of these tribal class destroyers I am building, so painting should go a little better . Still need to do some weathering, but not as severely as the G-class I did before ... bit of an overkill that one. I have got another hull waiting (Eskimo according to Trumper), but haven't decided yet which class I'll make from her. Cheers
  6. tell me about it ... tripple AA's at 1/350 are a bit the same fun ... besides the cranial torture ... they look real spiffy though. love the black circle at the bottom of the gun mount, and the gun itself ... makes for some rather nice contrast ...
  7. still some touch ups on the hull ... damage contol after drillin' the holes for the stanchions ...
  8. thank you gents, and for the likes fat chance, Lou ... today work calls again ...
  9. As would I ... whom's paying the ferryman ...
  10. It's been a while ... not much time for modelling, a lot of time wasted on work ... but ... this evening I fitted and fixated the for'ard superstructure. Guns are still loose - bit like me ... loose canon - net step will be the rigging of the funnel, after that put on the rear funnel and rigging it ... she'll be decorated for X-mas All the stanchions are mounted, so when the furniture has been rearanged on the deck, I can pull the wires for the railing ... getting somewhere ... darn, nearly forgot the picsies
  11. As Mark wrote, it is becoming quite futuristic ... very nice lines that way ... good to see you back at her
  12. ??? I think I'd better not comment, since it won't be build related Your hand job turned out rather smooth, Jack. Colours seem OK. I found on my models, considering the size, I could have mixed in some light grey to make them less "hard", more in sync with the scale
  13. ONLY ONE SINGLE PICTURE!?!?!?!? In a year's time ...!? You have been on vacation mate. Must have been well worth it for leaving such a sweet model gathering dust ... Hope you did have a good vacation ... that you are well rested for new model challenges ... I'm looking forward to see more of this wonderful model and learn how you got the genie in the bottle ... Cheers mate
  14. hope she feels better soon. Diabetes is a bitch to deal with ... (no pun intended) give her my best wishes and a speedy recovery
  15. That's for Europeans, OC. The American Brethren do not follow the churchy calendar, they have a commercial calendar ...
  16. I think I'd rather go for painting aftwerwards. although I do not use the heated stanchion method, I still paint afterwards ... I know ... my build is somewhat smaller ... a lot when I see those stanchions. However, on the Smit Rotterdam & Nederland I did paint the stanchions afterwards ...
  17. What do you want to look at ... it's easy for me to say do this or do that, but you are the one whom has her on display ...
  18. Is there ...? A pair of flat beaked plieers would do the trik, saves time not making the jig ... I prefer this type when doing jobs like the stanchion one: gives you some more space to work with the iron ...
  19. Lou beat me to it Steve. You can build entire sections that way. If you silver solder the railings, you do not even have to fear for melting the soldered joints, since your iron won't be able to melt the silver solder ...
  20. Now that's what I call a sight for sore eyes ... marvelous work Jim
  21. You've got far to much time on your hands Danny!!! Lovely build though ... especially for the time it took you ... but 4.5 days and not yet finished ... the base is mandatory!!
  22. What has the second to do with the pictures in the first I want your photographs Where's CMB located? website? I do order from the UK, although that might be less frequent in future ... <sigh>
