  1. Hi Liberto, thats a super built Viking boat, very well done Nils
  2. Pequot is looking top at this stage Bob, very nice progress and beautiful work, the boats look great !, now comes the remaining fitting out.... Are those the the vents you recently introduced by copper electoforming ? Nils
  3. Denis, trust now all vents in raw, basic shape are done. There are so many, that I had to make a plan, which and how many go where...... For the length adjustments there is a bit surplus tube on every vent. The pics show the variety of sizes, tube / bowl diameters and raw lengths. The plan though is not in scale ( only to give an overview) Some of the tubes go through the boats deck and remain visible looking on the promenade deck, some tubes will be blended behind vertical claddings on the promenade deck Nils
  4. nice progress Clarence, this old steamer has a certain nostalgic charme..... has`nt it ? Nils
  5. beautiful work Bob, the bow rails look great..., nice color giving Nils
  6. Very nice work Denis, I specialy like the access-ladder with its support framework and grating to the forecastle, integrated into the railing... Nils
  7. Lovely build Yancovitch, quite a pretty "beast" with 6 ft hull-length !! Nils
  8. Denis, thank you for your nice compliment, ... I just received the smallest bagfeet with 9,5 mm bowl OD, and 4 mm vent tube, am removing the clips and shall probably solder 20 of them tomorrow Nils
  9. awsome modeling Alexandru !! Your rigging looks top..... Nils
  10. lovely work Albert, will you keep up the possibility later on to view into the model, right down to the lower decks ? That looks fantastic, also the wood tones composition is superb Nils
  11. Thank you so much for your kind appreciations and compliments - Bob - Albert -Nenad - Bill - Steve - and Pete, and all those that expressed their "Likes" recently... Bob, I`m pleased you like the vents... Albert, a nice compliment, thanks very much.. Nenad, much appreciated, thanks very much... Bill, sorry for the wrong term in this relation, and thanks for putting me on track again, much appreciated.. Steve, the learn curve sets in at an early stage, this evening I made a few more bowls, and am pleased how fast they can be done now, Am still looking for some with only 10 mm diam. (found some and ordered at Ebay already, hopefuly the turn out right) Pete, thanks very much for your words...
  12. Hi Nenad, always busy as usual,...... nice progress with the decks fitting out do`nt forget a paperroll hanger inside the WC, and a water bucket ready outside for flushing Nils
  13. full elegant hull Patrick !!, I`m amazed how swift you are modeling, you sure know what you are doing there...... Nils
  14. Update making vents have been producing vents in different sizes these days, the pics show only 39 and there are 39 more to do (total 78) The time consuming part is to get the radial hole to size of a close fit around the tube for good soldering with a gas torch I`ve never used my Dremel (and different diameter grinding bits) so much before Nils
  15. Wonderful 12 1/2 footer Pete, this reminds me so well for sailing many years with my Cornish Cormorant dinghi day sailor, about the same size at the Baltic sea.... Nils
  16. Mihai, your "Pegasus" build looks very nice, I also like your color giving scheme.... Nils
  17. Hi Piet, ref. "bag feet" https://www.google.de/search?q=bag+feet&noj=1&site=webhp&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwixkPWFponPAhVGBBoKHboaCysQsAQIHQ&biw=1583&bih=965 Cheers Nils
  18. Good progress Patrick, looks like you had a sigh of relief when the hull came off the mould in good condition..... Nils
  19. Thanks Bob, I found these so called "bag feet" on a web site of an Italian source. The benefit was the elegant rounded rear side of the bowl, also giving a little more depth, so larger vent tubes could be used, than with ordinary flat reared bowels. I was initialy looking for "acorn nuts" in appropriate thread sizes, the ones with brazed on domes made from sheet, but was`nt able to find any at all (used to cut off the domes), that what I did for my "Heinrich Kayser" steamer Nils
  20. Hi Ed, right, I remember when member Lee posted his progress steps on his lovely Cutter "Alert" he gave me the tip to use a black cloth or black blanket as background for those full view pics, and I follow his advice now and then with good results. Your approach with the cut-aways on "Young America" is superb just like is.... Nils
  21. Hello Ed, love that model, the way you make the outcuts in decks deck-houses, and even one of the boats is only half planked. The last pic with the black hull, the golden ornamenting and the partial sheeting look great, Beautiful work, what a pleasure to look at. Nils
