Hi Moxis, a self made steam engine including a self made gas-fired boiler, that would be a thrill, and if possible fit all into a suitable boat with RC control. That will keep your designer`s mind busy for several weeks and months for planing and making, and your fellow builders at MSW shall be eagerly waiting to share your progress steps, once its kicked off...... Hi Moxis, yes, I see you really sensed the feeling one has when the model is complete. For the Chebec I still have to build the glass case, but quite a problem remains the fact, that I have`nt an adequate place where to display it in the moment. If I set it up in my hobby room, I would have to move at least one of the other six glass cases first, but also would`nt know where in the house to put that then instead.... My wife, Marianne, suggests that I better stop building model ships for quite some time.... ( not a good idea I think...) Nils

Gondola by AntonyUK
Mirabell61 replied to AntonyUK's topic in - Build logs for subjects built 1901 - Present Day
Hi Antony, thats a beautiful project, and a very interesting boat, that gondola, with asymmetrical build halves, can imagine its quite a challenge to get this modeled in scale...., but am sure you`re going to nail it.... All the best and good luck with the start on your yard... Nils -

Hi Thanasis, thanks for your kind words, and your compliment, they are much appreciated.... you are very welcome in visiting the chebec build log, and your own models I like very much, are so well built and representing the beautiful Greek boats of the Aegaeis and its typical islands vessels. I consider those model vessels as top notch. I just took a dive into the boat builds of your gallery, as well as your personal web site, to bring them and your skills back to mind. I shall be very pleased if the one or other details of my work could be of inspiring nature for fellow builders Nils

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
