  1. Looks like you're getting the 'hang' of the gallows, mate! John
  2. Your trained spiders are doing a great job there, Grant! John
  3. Nearly there, Tom. She's looking great! John
  4. Just catching up, Remco - she's looking absolutely first class John
  5. Good to see that you have a converted (and convertible) workspace getting close to go, Kats! John
  6. Sorry, Ollie, I forgot to attach the picture of the carronade! I think we all expected various buildings in Cooktown to loose their roofs, but looking at that photo, it seems the town has got off a lot lighter than was expected, which is excellent news. John
  7. Beautiful wood colour contrast there, Danny - and not a bad bit of cabinet work, as well! John
  8. Ollie, Eamonn has given you good advice. The tackle should be rigged as shown in this photo of a carronade on the Trincomalee. The line is spiced to the strop on the single block; through the first sheave of the double block; back through the sheave of the single block and then back through the second sheave of the double block. You can also see that the blocks are 'hook blocks' - attached by hooks for easy removal and re-positioning - you can get away with simple attachments to the rings. John
  9. Nice to see some progress on this one as well, Danny! John
  10. Nicely done, Danny. Can I ask why you glued the three pieces together before finishing the carving - was it for strength? John
  11. Richard, The full size caulking is so narrow (maybe 1/4 inch), that it's best represented by simply colouring one side of each plank so that it shows as a black line on the model. Most people do this by using a pencil or an archive quality marker pen. John
  12. Ollie, Isn't Ita crossing the coast north of Cooktown? I thought you were a bit further south. Anyway, if you're in the firing line, make sure you keep your head down - category 5's are not to be toyed with!! By the way, make sure your breaching ropes are long enough so that the guns can run right inboard. John
  13. Crikey, mate, it looks like you've got all the gear there now! have fun. John
