  1. Absolutely fantastic. You say it's approximately 7", have you ever figured out what scale that is?
  2. I don't know how it will "feel" sitting on it, but it sure looks good. Bob
  3. More about the boats. This was also entered under, "ships plans and project research". I contacted the man that set up the Pequot website, his father served aboard the Pequot during WWII. He said the stern boat was "called" a dory. But for the other two he could only lead me to these pictures. I agree that they are 26ft launches but built to a earlier design (1930s - 40s) then the ones being built today. Todays boats are more blunt in the bow and fuller in the stern. In my searching I have not been able to find plans for the older 26ft launch. can anyone help? Bob
  4. I go through this same process with every boat I build. I have yet to see a printed set of lines that are correct in all three orientations. Keep on with the instructions. You will have to adjust some lines to get things to line up correctly but eventually everything will line up and you will have a correct set of lines. It all takes time and work. Bob
  5. The Hudson river sloops were interesting as is your making it with bamboo. Bob
  6. "Problems just mean: solutions not yet found" I think you found the solution. Bob
  7. I was thinking of a plug. It needs to be about 2.75" long. Then lapstrake like Druxey did on the hospital barge. ya sure. Bob
  8. As I said earlier, in the early 1940’s Gen. Samuel M. Mills was transferred to the coast guard and renamed the Pequot. At that time she was also converter from a mine layer to an inductor cable layer. Among the changes made the ship boats were changed. The new boats, about 22 feet long with lap strake planking, had a blunt bow and a transom. I have not been able to find plans for this boat or anything close. If you go to the Pequot website, http://indicatorloops.com/usn_pequot_plans.htm The drawings are of the Gen. Samuel M. Mills the Pequot version I am building is the first overhead picture. The boats are on davits about half way back. Any help would be appreciated. Bob
  9. I just found your build log. I like how you make every part work as it should. Then you teach us how we can do the same thing. Keep up the fine job. Bob
  10. Just found your build. Another fantastic SIB. Bob
  11. I have to agree with everyone else, she's a beautiful boat and an amazing bit of craftsmanship. Bob
  12. Your model is coming along nicely, very interesting. I am fascinated by the riverboats that were converted into gunboats. As packets, the boats went in one direction on the rivers to the last stop and then went all the way back. But as gunboats they had to be where the action was. Yes the lower Mississippi river is wide but can you imagine turning around a floating football field sized boat in some of the smaller tributaries? Bob
  13. Nils, If we didn't enjoy it, it would be work instead of a hobby. Bob
