“I ask myself: Why was the very first attempt so easy and now so difficult?” Ah, that’s one of the mysteries of modeling. I have the same problem. Keep at it, eventually success comes. Bob

All your ladders are nice. The round rung ladder would have been more work to make and would have been a permanent ladder, whereas the square rung ladder wound have been nailed together for the job and scrapped afterword. Bob

“It’s nice having the Admiral back home where she belongs!” Yes, that’s always a good thing. And now you’re building again, that’s also a good thing. Bob

Thanks for the information but things have changed. The finished schooner will be placed where the admiral will see it all the time and she said. . . “I don’t want that other boat with the schooner ! ” Since I’m making it black and gold for her, I will not be adding the seine boat, for her. Bob

"Does anyone know the secret of keeping the tub from drying out?" If it's a water based filler like Elmers, you need to add water periodically and stir it up. Bob

Thanks popeye, my friend. I was a fun build. But as we build we never know what others will like. Bob

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
