oh....don't go and throw something 'fowl' into the mix although you may be right Floyd.....if this banter keeps up, Augie might just make 100. stretching this out like this though........it's Ok.....but I would think that if he wanted another ship build to continue with....there would be a kit making it's way to his doorstep. I know that it's hard........the last bit of work to any build is the toughest.........the moment that one can say, it's done.....I'm finished.........the release is saddening {believe it or not}....it's the strangest feeling. I felt it strongly when I finished the Nordkap.....because I didn't have anything to back it up. I guess {pause, I got coffee on my 'H'} {OK....unpause} this is another reason why I have so many builds in the works........I finish one.......I just go in the hallway and get another one but in the meantime.......one must find the disipline not to keep adding to the roster these are for the special builds I will be doing down the road. I already have one set of keel and ribs...I need to make the ribs for these two.........no rush though

gee........they don't look that thick.........I really like them! I copied and imported some of these roman numerals into my decal maker. now, in the decal maker, I can size them to whatever I want........the problem is.......is that the ink jet printers do not print white. I could use white paper {white film}.......but the backgroung will need to be colored the same as where they are to be applied. the problem here is the spectrum that a printer uses.......it never seem to match the exact color used. another problem is the transparency issue I've had in the past...........the funny thing is, I just got a thought while I was writing this. most printers max out at 600 DPI......especially with lighter colors, they seem to get lost in the background if it's dark. I've been using the normal print.........what if I went to bold print? if I had some paper handy, I could try this out. you mentioned doing something with decals a while ago.......I'll look forward in seeing what your take is on this process.

who........ME? yea, I know it looks strange to have multiple builds going on........but it just happens to me as I'm working on one build, I'm constantly thinking of other applications of what I'm doing and where it can be applied. I can only work on one at any given time, but when I gather enough information, I switch over to the build in question. I have had a great 'pull' to bring out the trawler lately, but I've been holding off, because I really want to get the Goth moving again. my goal with her is to get the fore mast in place, so I can begin doing the shrouds and bow better squared away. I can bide my time with the others.......but sooner or later, the pull will get to be too great........and then I'm off on another wild tangent untill that happens though....I'm happy just working on the Goth.......and of course, finishing the planking on the Half Moon. hmmmmmm.....modeling Gigolo.........kinda funny to think about it......

I never knew of how the sleeping arrangements were, on a tall ship, until I came here you give a good narration of how they look Daniel....it will be really cool to see this bit of detail fully assembled.

it doesn't matter Alex......just glad to see you back at the table. I'm familiar with the word......I think I'll look it up to see if there are other meanings. just as well........a cannon tutorial might be just the ticket for me I know some things......but I think an expanded knowledge wouldn't hurt. it's nice to find common folks in all corners of the world.........but it even nicer to join hands and find it a comfortable fit. not too much of a gap between countries now.....is there?

No worries Adam........your progress really looks good!.. you think you camera savy looks bad......look back on some of the snaps I've taken....LOL! I still don't know what half the buttons do on my 'time replicator' {it doesn't even qualify the camera status} I'm even afraid to take it outside........for fear that someone would drive by an' holler out the window........."TOURIST!" that's not a boo boo, by the way..........it's just something you haven't done yet now if the ship was finished and it wasn't done.......now THAT'S a boo boo. your doing a swell job Adam.........keep it up!

thanks Alex........good to have you back. I say the same for your build as well I was putting the finishing touches on the AmericA I believe, when we last spoke. I have been busy........but not as busy as I would like to be. been a crazy summer so far..........the in-laws from Texas just left........and my friend from Florida should be here by now..... ooooops! just got some banter about mowing the lawns............out there in the hot humid weather. it's about 20 till 10:00 here at this time, and it's almost at 90 degrees. the index is going to be over 100 today with the humidity...........yea......I'm right on it

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
