I'm kinda surprised that you didn't get anything in the kit. the good thing with the decal maker is that it is sized for the decal paper half sheets. using photo shop or something similar, unless you size down the field, you may run the risk of the decal not beiing all the way on the paper. all ink jet printers will not print white or metallic colors. very little can be done with the matallics......but you can cheat with the white issue, by using white decal paper. you'll more than likely have to change the background to get rid of the residual white

hey there John......I used the Testor's decal maker. not too sure if it can be purchased in a hobby store........I know they carry the 'basic' program. I had to get mine from the site. Testors it called the standard edition. with the basic program, you cannot import anything into it, but with the standard program, you can. I've been looking around for all kinds of thing to import.......stencils and stuff. it does have it's draw-backs though......it's a work in progress. if you just want lettering, try some of these....I hope they are good for you. www.walthers.com -- main page Decals :: Decals, Trim, Pilots, Scale Accessories :: Airplane Hardware :: Airplanes :: Advantage Hobby Scale Model Decals Products - Decals & Graphics - Woodland Scenics - Model Layouts, Scenery, Buildings and Figures try these...........hope they help.

your question has good and bad points. without a proper 'sanding jig' to support the hull while your finishing the planking, you could run into a problem knocking the dead eyes off. although, he is correct that this would be a good time to cement them in place. I'd suggest doing it later......a small pair of snips can be used to trim the excess thread.- 4,152 replies

I have done more planking to the other side, in order to even it out on both sides. I have done some tapering to the planks so far in the process. now that I'm reaching the chines, it will require more. I don't know what the thought was in creating the ribs with such an edge at the chines. in past pictures of the hull frame, you can see just how much of an edge there is. this must be removed and rounded to compliment the contour of the hull below the water line.

thanks Ron, Eric, and Mark.........I guess the thing to say should be, that it's about time I got to rigging this bad girl! the word from you Eric, tells me I'm on the right track. thanks again for that belaying diagram....it's going to come in handy. I only have a few mins......I am almost out the door for work. I tried to do this last night, but I had internet issues in the middle of it. I have done a bit more to the fore mast, going with the double blocks for the main yard rigging. I want to get the fore mast in place........shrouds......fore rigging....more rigging!

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
