  1. Your details are really adding to the beauty of this build.
  2. Congratulations on a beautiful model.
  3. As I recall, and memory might be faulty.... Tommy Ivo's 4 engine, 4 wheel drive rail dragster was powered by the Buicks.
  4. Ah... the 455 Buick.. one of the most underrated engines back then. The small block 400 Chevy was also. My favorite line I always heard a lot from builders was: "Speed costs money. How fast do you really want to go?".
  5. Thanks for sharing these photos, Laura. Beautiful work and display on the both the village and the ship. Your grandfather was a true craftsman.
  6. If you don't want to start a new log, I can move this topic to appropriate area in the Scratch area since it appears to be a scratch build.
  7. Hi Martin, welcome to MSW. We're a friendly and helpful bunch so other than swallowing hard, open a log and jump in.
  8. Hi John. Welcome to MSW. I would suggest putting your introduction here: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/3-new-member-introductions/ instead of on your profile or here as this is more of an informational topic . More people will see it as separate topic.
  9. Beautiful work that captures the mood totally. There's an old saying about artists (and this is art for sure) " Every artist needs a canvas and a critic with a gun. When the work is done, the critic should shoot the artist so he doesn't go too far." You're there. Add your flag and put her in a case or we'll have to send the critic to your workshop.
  10. I love the detail you can do at this larger size along with the photography.
  11. Aluminum foil might also be an option but it is rather flimsy.
  12. Here's a link that might help. They have some good info and also the various brands and products listed. http://www.pcbsupplies.com/dry-transfer/
  13. If you're interested in the 3D printing, there is this section: https://modelshipworld.com/forum/34-cad-and-3d-modellingdrafting-plans-with-software/ But it's more for doing the work yourself although there are posts dealing with commerical companies.
  14. Dave has it as it was pretty much "standard" but not always. One difference, for example, is the French. The breach rope went through the carriage and not around the breeching knob as other countries used.
  15. Numerous ways to skin that cat, Charlie. Try using the search function (upper right side) and "deadeye" or "deadeyes" as the keywod. After the first search use the "advanced" features and set the search to this sub-forum. You'll come across methods from jigs similar to what Gregory posted to simple methods using a paper clip.
  16. Welcome to MSW, Flying Fish. I hope you'll start a log for your Orca.
  17. I'm here for this one though there is a small problem... I'm out of popcorn machines. I'll have to move one from someplace else. <sigh> Work is never ending.
  18. Welcome to MSW, Scott. Good luck on finding more about this model. I hope your search goes well.
  19. One never wants to find out what "OR ELSE", means. You have an interesting technique on the painting. I'll be interested in seeing how this works out. I used a brush on my CH-53 but different scale and acrylic only. Back to hanging out in the rafters as we don't get popcorn or nuts falling on us there.
