Hi Michael Your response made me smile from ear to ear! At least you made it as a 'back up for the soccer team". I, on the other hand, was always the LAST to be picked for any sporting team☹️. And, to make it worse, I was never allowed to sing out loud when we had to sing hymns at school because my voice was flat. I was told that I had to mime the words, instead!!!!! I still haven't gotten over the humiliation.... Oh well. Cheers Patrick

Hey Denis I've finally caught up! Welcome to the land of the living (I say, to myself). As expected, you're doing a masterful job with your Tumbling Dice. The decking looks superb, as do the staircases. Mighty fine! You know, I've always loved these style of boats. There's something about them that's just, let's say, magical, charming, captivating, a throwback to simpler days, when life was less chaotic. Keep up the great work! Cheers Patrick

Thanks Grandpa Phil and welcome to my log! It’s great to hear from you. All the best! Patrick

Hi John Hehehe! You wouldn’t believe where I got that picture from! It’s from a wine bottle catalogue that I received in the post a couple of weeks ago. Who would’ve thought that a face like that could adorn a wine bottle label, hey? ...and to think, they say that alcohol’s not good for ya! Cheers Patrick

Hey Angafather!!! Great to hear from you. I’ve missed your posts. I hope all’s well with you and your family. Cheers. Patrick

Hi Carl Love your work! She’s coming along really nicely. I especially like the camo paint job. That wouldn’t have been easy, but you pulled it off beautifully! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Patrick

Hi everyone! A very special thanks to all who liked and commented on Genesis’ progress. Michael, Carl and Piet-many thanks as well! I’ve progressed a little further by venturing into fitting out the Beach Club at the stern of Genesis. I’ve adorned this space with some more art work, setties and lounges for lounging around in. Just forward of the Beach Club, I’ve also added Genesis’ Control Room. This is where the crew can oversee the operation of her engines and machinery. I’ve added a few computers on the desk, just to add a touch of realism to the room. I hope you like these photos. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Patrick

Hi Michael Mmmmm....let me see. I bet that you were one of those kids at school that were gifted and talented at just everything you turned your hands to. You know, the sort that mere mortals like me just looked at with fits of envy and jealousy. Why am I saying this? Well, there’s no other way that I can adequately express my admiration for your mastery of this model. Everything that you’ve done just looks sensational! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Patrick

Hi Marcus I’ve also managed to catch up (after feeling very guilty for not stopping by more often due to work constraints). Irrespective of that, wow wee!!!! Yours is the sort of build log that puts a smile on my face. What started out as raw materials in the beginning, has now blossomed into a real little gem. Such a pleasure to follow. Good luck with the rest of the build. Merry Christmas and have a happy 2019. Patrick

Hi folks. A further update on my Genesis, Mega yacht model. I’ve decided that her owner is a massive art-freak and has adorned his ship with a couple of pretty large arty-farty murals, as well as a fancy silver sculpture in the main saloon and a shiny glass sculpture in the aft deck, adjacent to the table and chairs. I hope you enjoy these photos. Cheers Patrick

Hi folks Thanks for all of your Likes and comments. Another quick update. Well, last night I added the bar stools to adorn the bar in the saloon. Also, I added a chair for the writing desk on the other starboard side of the saloon. Still more to come, folks. Have a a great week. Cheers. Patrick

Hi folks Thanks for all of your Likes and Comments. Much appreciated! A quick update and close-up photos of Genesis’ main saloon. Principally, she now sports a cocktail bar (port side) and writing desk (starboard side). Furthermore, a large white sofa has been added to her eclectic selection of furnishings. I’ve also included a few photos of the Owner’s suite, which has a large king sized bed as well as other assorted furnishings. I hope you enjoy these photos. Have a great week! Cheers Patrick

Hi Denis Many thanks. I’ve been tempted to add figures, but I’ve always been scared that they’d turn out to be ridiculous looking blobs of nothing...such is my ability to do such things! Oh well... Cheers. Patrick

Hi Barry As soon as I saw the word "Rainbow" pop up on MSW, I just had to have a look at your Build Log (it's not often that I get to check out the Kit Forum). Top job you're doing! The planking you've done looks great. Are you going to be painting the hull, or varnishing it? BTW, I've always loved the J Class boats. They're just beautiful and powerful. If you're interested, you can check out my Rainbow model as well (just follow the link in my signature block). All the best for the build. Cheers Patrick

Hi Radek I’m a bit late in joining your Build Log, but your model is just a pure joy to look at. Impressive, yes. Beautiful, yes. Nice? Yes. Very, very nice! Cheers. Patrick

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
